Unnamed Trialist
What I liked about Argentina is that they were the team that played closest to normal football, they rarely were into the very Brazilian style of stepping and crossovers and flicks and tricks. They play more or less how anyone who is good at the sport would play on a basketball court. Then, the corollary: none of the players really shined above the rest, apart from the Brandi goals, they were sort of unspectacular. Their physical consistency and pressure on the ball, unafraid, and hardly ever losing a mark, which is incredibly hard to do, never missing your man on a give an go. Russia, in turn, playing to get back into it, hardly ever was first timing the passes, always control-pass-control-touch-pass. That is very methodic but much easier to defend.
