Not a bad word about Ricketts in this thread. I wonder what changed....

That's partially because we now have Haber, who is further down the pecking order. I think most people on the board would take Ricketts over Haber at this point.

Neither are ideal.

We are missing a ton of leadership without deGuzman and Johnson.

We are going with a brand new midfield in our most important game.

None of our CBs are playing at a high level.

Our RB is no RB and is coming off an injury.

Our most creative player is without a club and not in game shape.

Does that about cover the downside?

None of our keepers are starters at their respective clubs.

A true underdog story! Disney will make a movie after we crush them!

That is an obscene number of defenders.  How about this?

                   Borjan

Henry Vitoria Jakovic Hainault

            Edgar Straith

 Arfield   Hutchinson  Hoilett

                   Larin

He doesn't play this formation but how about a back 6 hahaha.  I can't think of a way to get more CBs on the field without sacrificing our best players.  I sacrificed de jong for MORE defence.

Another positive: De Guzman, as much as I respect his career and contributions, was bad in all but one of the previous WCQs. He's done, sadly. Even a CB (Edgar) in his spot may be an improvement.

If he was healthy, I'm sure he would have been selected by Floro.

...I've seen worse.  A lot worse.

I think this is what we'll see, with the midfield triangle perhaps rotated differently. Ledgerwood may start ahead of Henry but I wouldn't bet on it.

Predicted starting XI:

------------------Borjan------------------

Henry---Jakovic---Vitoria---De Jong

---------------Hutchinson-----------------
Ricketts--Arfield---Edgar---Hoilett

-----------------*Larin----------------------

* I could also see Larin on the bench, Ricketts at CF and Akindele on the wing. That would be the same line up that beat Uzbekistan I believe. Larin sat on the bench in that game and also against Azerbaijan in favour of Ricketts. I don't recall any report of a Larin injury, so that was a tactical move. Ricketts has a strong work ethic and has looked good for TFC.

Can anyone else see that happening?
