Gopherbashi
Finally something west of the GTA! Let's hope this spurs some more action in that part of the province.
Kent
Not really L1O news, but Windsor just needs to hold on for 14ish more years. https://www.narcity.com/ca/on/toronto/news/this-high-speed-train-will-be-able-to-take-you-from-toronto-to-windsor-in-just-2-hours If they had this train this past season, I imagine it would have helped them a lot to cut down that 5 hour commute for games in Toronto. Probably would have had much better player turnouts. Of course the stated 2 hour time is to Union station, so probably you would have to tack on another hour or so to get to the specific field needed from there. Also it's still probably cheaper to pile the whole team into four cars (or one bus) and drive the distance. Hell, it will probably be cheaper for everyone to take their own car than take the train. Now if they had a sponsorship deal...

Yeah, agreed it would likely be more expensive, and I agree with Rheo on the skepticism, at least in terms of the time line. But it would be an option that could potentially make the difference for some players being able to make it to the game or not. And it could also make it more appealing for fans to make the trip. More likely that would be for CPL (if it's around and still kicking by then!) for fans going between the GTA and KW and/or London if those places have teams. Gopherbashi
Yeah, Windsor needs teams to populate the central-west portion of the province. That will help more than anything else. Kent

It would have been a nice win for the geographical footprint and eased the burden on Windsor and even London, as well as bringing in another high quality club. I wonder if FC London will go back to calling themselves Forest City next year. As I recall, they had a two-year moratorium on using the name as part of leaving PDL. Kent
A few articles recently on the League1 Ontario website about what their players are achieving outside of the league. 40 current or former players represented Canada (all age groups, men and women) in 2017http://www.league1ontario.com/news_article/show/878462?referrer_id=2309049 74 current or former men's players played in NCAA D1http://www.league1ontario.com/news_article/show/869614?referrer_id=2309049 77 current or former women's players played in NCAA D1http://www.league1ontario.com/news_article/show/875140?referrer_id=2309049

Kent
Here's a nice little article, listing the best pro seasons a League1 Ontario grad has had. A lot of players on that list are with the National Team right now. https://canpl.ca/article/5-bet-professional-campaigns-from-league1-ontario-mens-grads I didn't know a few of them were in L1O. My best effort to count gives me 7 L1O grads on the current national team. I've got St. Clair, Johnston, Laryea, Buchanan, Kaye, Larin, Corbeanu. Blue and White Army
Toronto Skillz out of the men's league? DeRo United and Unionville Milliken out of the women's league? Pandemic was bound to see from turnover, I guess. Looking forward to seeing the schedule. nolando

Toronto Skillz and UMSC are still members of L1O. DeRo had previously been announced as having left. Perhaps some teams have opted out due to pandemic reasons (i.e. player availability in September). I noticed there are some "University Divisions" which could be August only seasons. For example, Skillz and UMSC have teams in the University Divisions. The L1O Wikipedia page has a good list of which teams are still officially part of the "top (non-reserve) league" Blue and White Army and dnina10
