Upcoming HON vs. SLV Matches

These two matches are, IMO, more important than our matches vs. Mexico. Reasoning behind this is, if Honduras can be limited on the number of points they get from these two games, it puts us in a much better position to move on to the Hex no matter what results come from our two matches vs. Mexico. The first match is in El Salvador, so hopefully the Salvadorans can can get something at home. The next match is in Honduras. If SLV can get anything from this second match then I think we're sitting pretty. I still firmly believe we need Honduras' qualifying campaign to essentially be done after this series w SLV.

Will anyone on the 25th who's going to the match vs. Mexico have the ability to track live updates from the SVL HON match?

I would be fine with El Salvador winning both games against Honduras tbh. To bad the first game is going to be on during the Canada game. I really wanted to watch it.

March 25th:

Canada will start a few minutes past 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern.  El Salvador vs Honduras will start at 7:06pm local. 6:06pm Pacific/9:06pm Eastern. At halftime (our game) we will know how things finished for the other game.

On March 29th, the match will start at 8:30pm local Azteca time. That's 7:30pm Pacific/10:30pm Eastern. Honduras vs El Salvador will start a few minutes after 7pm local. 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern.

Interesting. Well hopefully we can get some of the match on while we're all still at pre-match at Doolin's. Trevor, any idea if we can find somewhere in Mexico to catch some of the match before our game at the Azteca?

I think the place we have set up will have it. We should be able to catch a bit before we go to AZTECA!!!!!!!

Azteca is so big, and the logistics of getting to your section with your bus will be such that I doubt you will watch much more than 10 minutes of that game. If I don't have your number Jeff, just send it to me on facebook and turn on your phone at halftime for both games and I'll text you the result. :)

Getting to Azteca as away fans with security concerns, police escort and even just Mexican City traffic is a really difficult task. Don't even bother to try and arrange to watch any of the Honduras match. You need to plan to get to the stadium as early as possible, better to be there really early than miss the first half. Going to Azteca is nothing like going to a match here.

Our match is more important (controlling our own destiny etc), but I would take a loss in Vancouver + ESV/HON draw over a draw in Vancouver + HON win

Or maybe all the Hondurans just get Zika and we're good to go.

The matches are of equal importance. Whether we get a draw at home to Mexico or Honduras draw in ES is of equal importance. If Honduras loses in ES that result becomes more important unless we lose, which would cancel each other out. If we win then Hon need to win or else they are on the verge of elimination. Essentially we need to either match or better the Honduran result on March 25th to maintain our advantage.

You would be fine if El Salvador finished March with 7 points??? If we're left with 4 with only 2 games left that would be very tight.

I am confident Mexico would beat El Salvador. If we can't beat El salvador at home we should just stop trying. Plus i said i would be fine with it (not happy about it)

I'm not saying your wrong or your opinion sucks, but any team getting 6 points would be bad especially if we only get 0 or 1 from Mexico.

Not to mention this whole idea that Mexico will keep fielding the best 11 if they sweep us.

You tend not to care about the points that you drop if you have enough to move on.

Yeah, this is key.  We need to get something from Mexico not only for ourselves, but to leave Mexico with something to fight for in September.

This probably won't help you sleep any better at night, but from what I've read and heard Osorio wants to make a statement with this qualification campaign, there's been some frustration with the team in recent years and he wants to do away with it the only way he can, essentially leaving no questions about their standing in CONCACAF

But to your point, it's easy to say that now and switch it up once they're guaranteed a spot in the hex.

Yep.. let's not forget that they needed serious last minute help just to get into the playoff with NZ last time around.  I don't see them taking their foot off the gas at all even if they have a spot lined up.  No way the risk a rough start to the hex.

I think El Salvador are better than people are giving them credit for. I think they will get at least one point from Honduras and maybe more. Our home match against them is a very long way from being a sure thing. Probably 50/50 that we get the win (but the same applies to Hondurass).

Really 50/50? That game is suppose to be the easiest game in the group.

Mexico hates Honduras more than we do - if they have a chance to stomp on them and put them out of the hex they will.
