Supporters vs. Supporters Match - Friday Noon - 2 @ Andy Livingstone Park

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen a specific topic regarding this in this section of the forum yet so in case this discussion is happening elsewhere please either merge those posts into here or kill this topic and make it a link to the appropriate one.

I'd like to propose a Supporters vs. Supporters match either the morning or early afternoon of the 25th. We've had the Supporters match the same day as the Nats games a few times and it's never caused any issues for people as far as I'm aware. Let's get the discussion going and get the details sorted ASAP so we can get the field booked and get the word out. As per usual it'd be nice to have it at a facility that has change rooms. Two potential sites that seem to be close to the downtown core are Trillium Park and Andy Livingstone Park.

CONFIRMED - 12:00 - 2pm - Andy Livingstone Park west turf field - change rooms for guys and ladies w showers

$5 each person - bring 1 white top and 1 red top

Someone please bring at least 1 good ball

Someone please bring two full sized nets for the goals along with duct tape

Would people be opposed to a kick off time of 10am on the 25th? That way many could still head home, have a shower, and take their smelly boots home too. Another option is to have it in the afternoon and make sure it's at a venue that has full change rooms and showers. This is how it worked when we used Lamport, and in my opinion it worked quite well. We were even allowed to store our stuff there to be picked up after the match. Not saying this is ideal for this particular occasion but it worked fine for games at BMO.

The venue in November was great as it was right downtown and easy access from anywhere. Andy Livingstone Park I think.

Need to get @tarnado1555362291 and @Raven1555362272 in this thread.

I think that's the place I'm going to investigate first. Do you recall if it had showers in the change rooms? Just in case we need to book it later than 1pm kick off and people want to just clean up there. I'd suggest we set kick off for somewhere between 10am and noon. It appears the west turf field there is available for the entire day. Here's a screenshot of that.

Tarnado was the main organizer last time, but I helped him out. There were some issues with people not paying or commiting and not showing up, so we  were a bit shy about organizing it again.  All in all it was a great time, just need to sort out the $$ details.

There are 6 or 7 of us from Pender Island that would like to play, we are coming in on a Friday morning (arrive 9:30...then get downtown..check in, etc..) so beginning at Noon (12:00) would work best for us. I can get a full commitment form my group as to how many will play friday night.

Oh, it was Andy Livingstone Park.

Dan.

I will likely be in for this (I arrive just before 9 am on the Friday).  For me it will just come down to space to fit my soccer stuff.  I'm hoping to do only carry-on, and I need enough clothes to get me to Mexico and back.  We will see how creative I can be with the space I have.

Looks like noon is the majority vote. I can't dedicate time today to get it booked so if someone could please book Andy Livingstone for noon on the 25th for two hours and make sure we are able to use the change rooms and showers, that'd be swell.

I put the reservation in for Andy Livingstone for noon on the 25th. The email I got back the other day when asking about it stated that nets aren't provided/won't already be set up at the field. We might need to track down a couple nets for this. Can someone track down two full sized nets for that day?

Thanks for doing this. You'll have to sort out how much we owe you so I can tell the people I'm bringing how much it will cost them each.

I'm only getting into town on game day but my timing may actually work out, so I will try to make it out.

We have a Referee!!!

I think I'm going to be iffy on playing.  I had a bike accident on Monday and my knee is still really sore.  Low impact is doable but running at this point really hurts.  I'll make the call at the last minute but if we are divying up the cost of the field count me in.  I will show up to either watch or play.

Andy Livingstone Park rental confirmed for 12:00 - 2pm Friday. We've theoretically got a person limit of 50 people but I'm honestly not sure how hardcore Vancouver Parks will be on Good Friday. Also they informed me we can't have banners or anything that could be seen as some form of advertising/commercialisation. Did you guys in the Southside have all this ******* red tape thrown at you when setting up your games? Also, the most convoluted ******* online rental system I have EVER used!

Rental came to $110 taxes in so assuming we get around 25 people it'll be $5 a pop. We have full access to two change rooms plus the showers there, so we can allocate one to guys and one to ladies. Other groups will be able to get in and out of the change rooms so please don't leave your stuff in them, take it out field-side. Can someone please remember to bring a good ball/a few good balls. Also can someone please bring nets and duct tape? I haven't gotten a straight answer as to whether the goals there will already have nets in them or not.

Please bring one white top and one red top - we'll divide into white vs. red for the game.

I'm debating dragging the girlfriend to this. How competitive do you think it will be? Not sure I want to bring my cleats and she doesn't have any.

I'm bringing my cleats otherwise I'll go over on one of my ankles and it'll ruin the rest of my trip. Bring her - these tend to be a mixture of the physically challenged led by Ben Rycroft and then a spectrum of low-end talent to some guys who've played upper-level men's league.
