Varsity is the worst stadium they could possibly play at followed by York. Also why not Birchmount?

Varsity isn't possible considering the UofT nimby people.

Birchmount could work...but it also falls into the same catergory of ESS that it would require massive upgrades.

Birchmount could be good just put in some stands around the pitch and put natural grass and take off the football lines

Oh without doubt place needs to have at least another 3000 seats and needs a lot of fixing but if we're just talking fantasy right now it makes sense as the location (more so than Esther Shiner). It's a well known stadium located in a decent area that's rather easy to get to via TTC. It also has soccer history with the Robbie nd both were "immortalised" by the BNL in a song that topped international charts.

What about centennial stadium in Etobicoke? Just needs refurbishing and some stands around the field

To me centennial is located at the end of Toronto, in a not so accessible place. The land is there, but wonder if it would be to close to Tim Hortons field (40 mins apart)

really downsview park ? is that so  when TFC  players are training they see their  rivals stadium  ( rivals cause they are both from toronto)

It would be intimidating, lol, J/K...just ironic really.

Speaking of intimidating, I'm watching the Oilers play right now. What is with these modern day arenas and weak atmosphere? It sounds like a tennis match in there. It's a stark contrast to the old arenas like the Northlands, Maple Leaf Gardens, Chicago Stadium, The Reunion and The Spectrum. Those places had smaller capacities but whenever the home team scored, it rivalled the loudest soccer crowds I have ever heard.

Want this league to be known? Get it in there. Like 40% of Americans got into soccer because of those games

Imagine if they had the CPL Stadiums like

Investors Group Field

Moncton Stadium

Commonwealth Stadium

Wanderes Ground

TD Place

New Mosaic

Birchmount Stadium

Tim Hortons Stadium

Soccer was viewed as an unwelcome alien presence to be bled dry and bankrupted with really bad stadium rental deals and constantly ridiculed and disparaged in the media as a sport played by wimpy immigrants and followed by dangerous hooligan fans that no true Canadian should go anywhere near. If Canadian football gets involved with it now it's often to help justify the funding of a stadium deal as much as anything else. I'm skeptical that attitudes have really changed behind closed doors where the older 50+ generation is concerned, so I seriously doubt that the CFL angle goes much further than a couple of ownership groups looking for a way to generate some extra profit from under-utilized stadia given how few games the CFL plays each year. Not sure why any soccer fan would want people like that calling the tune for our sport moving forward when MLS playoffs ratings last year show that things are on the brink of finally going mainstream with what we already have in place. Halifax have the right idea in building an SSS, because our sport uses a different shaped field from Canadian football and the two don't really fit together comfortably, but it's just too small a city to belong in the same company as the main soccer teams in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, just as is the case with hockey and basketball.

Halifax is only "too small" for an NHL team because of who controls the NHL.  If we hadn't allowed American teams to join the NHL in the first place, Halifax would probably already have a team.

The CPL is not going to be controlled by the Yanks, it's going to be ours.  Every country in the world (except this one) has teams in small cities.  What's important is having enough people who will go to games, not the population of the city itself.  The biggest city in the country is the worst at supporting the CFL, while it thrives in smaller cities.

I agree look at England they have plenty of clubs in small towns but they have supporters

Bettman doesn't like or understand atmosphere.  Since he became NHL dictator, goal horns and "music" blasted whenever the game stops has killed any atmosphere that might occur.  Plus, all the new arenas are identical toilet bowls except for that joke in New York, that half toilet bowl.
