Vince193 1,177
Born in Quebec City, is a 97 and currently plays for Colo-Colo in Chile. He's a left back. While it is a huge long shot to see him play for us, Looking at the Chile set up, Mena and Albornoz are there two options at LB, with Albornoz at 25 years of age. He has yet to be in any Chile youth camps. Giving him a call can't hurt.
Fussball_eh 352
He played for 59' for Colo-Colo in the Chilean cup final tonight. His team just scored the 1:1 equalizer. Going to penalties right now. Edited December 3, 2015 by Fussball_eh
jpg75 12
Juan Cornejo (25) of Audax Italiano is another LB in the Chile pool. Gutierrez's teammate Paulo Diaz is a 21 yr old CB and has been called to the Chilean NT already.

I'm sure that they've tried at youth setups, but Vince thinks tha the guy plays for Chile's biggest club, I highly doubt that he would choose to play for Canada now. He can still play for the next Chile U-20 team, If he ever chooses to play for Canada, it will be in at least 4 years. More on him. He arrived in Chile at age 8, but he's the kind of player that I won't lose any sleep if he plays for Chile.

charlesmazz 147
In a June 2015 interview for the Colo Colo website, he was asked what his ultimate dream was and his reply was to make the first team, eventually move to a bigger club in Europe and make the the Chile National Team. BrennanFan 2,383
as soon as the weight of the world crushes his dreams, like it has done to so many of us, Canada will be there with open arms Brethers8, nolando, Grizzly and 2 others
Tuscan 0
Well I suppose, as sad as it sounds, we can only hope that he doesn't get called to a Chilean national team and, instead realizes his chance with int'l football is available through Canada. Being a beggar instead of a chooser as a soccer nation has us as a nice second-choice option at times. MtlMario

youllneverwalkalone 1,042
Remember the time Dasovic tried to convince that Arsenal youth player born in Edmonton to join Canada? shermanator 4,389
If Bustos can have his Chilean national team dreams crushed, and come to Canada, so can Gutierrez. Like others, I won't worry about him wanting to play for Chile, as he's actually been developed in their setup.

Olympique_de_Marseille 2,591
An update on Cristián Gutiérrez: Over the last few months he has lost favour in the first team of Colo Colo as Jean Beausejour has taken over the starting left back role. Gutiérrez was demoted to the U-19 squad and then got himself a 5 game ban in March basically ending his season:http://www.elgraficochile.cl/de-titular-a-desaparecido-el-complejo-presente-de-cristian-gutierrez-en/prontus_elgrafico/2016-03-13/180013.html Beausejour seems to be leaving so he might get more playing time in the future. The critical news for us is that the Chile U-20 squad played a friendly vs Primera B team Everton de Viña del Mar. Chile won 2-1. Gutiérrez was a starter (I don't know if he was subbed out or how long he played). http://www.anfp.cl/noticia/26288/la-roja-sub-20-gano-21-a-everton-en-el-sausalito As for his twin brother with a much lower profile (Diego Gutiérrez) - nothing much seems to be going on with his career -nothing to report.
