Costa Rica scored off a penalty. Schmidt off. Prince on. Sincs second goal was amazing! So well taken

I wanted her to win player of the year in 2015, thinking that may have been her best and only chance. But if she keeps this up, I think she's going to have another chance this year. Belanger has been such a revelation for us!! The speed is great. Honestly plays the defensive role like a boss. Natural!

rob.notenboom
Solid performance. I wonder who gets the start against the US (assuming they win). Thought Schmidt and Scott had below average games. Defence wasn't really troubled. Sincy's calf muscle keeps her out of the final?
rob.notenboom
Can we have a warm up tournament vs some minnows. Everyone just lob balls into Sinclair for her to head in. Heck, Wambach fed off that her whole career.

The funny thing is, that for her retirement game the USA tried to do that to give her one last goal; it caused them to play horribly at the end and they lost to China at home breaking a 104 game unbeaten-at-home streak. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/soccer/2015/12/16/usa-loses-china-abby-wambach-final-game/77462640/

tc-in-bc
[ 1 ] If Christine Sinclair is given time and space then she can still create plays and score goals. The pace of players like Rose, Matheson, Belanger are drawing opponents out of position and Sinclair is benefiting. Let's hope that this continues against tougher competition. [ 2 ] Wouldn't mind seeing some future friendlies against China, New Zealand, Netherlands and/or Switzerland. The program can then measure the differences between this current Olympic-bound team with the world cup team from last year. [ 3 ] Ultimately they have to cut two players, to drop from 20 players to 18 players: one keeper and one other player --- unsure who this other player should be. Soccerpro
Sinclair's goal was nice, but getting chipped on your own goal line is a pretty common occurrence in women's soccer that I hope disappears some day. Either find some taller GKs, or ones that can jump. Or preferably both.
BuzzAndSting
Good game but what was with the penalty?! Of course I'm biased but I can't see how that was a foul. Leblanc and Dobson's struggle to explain it was almost as painful as the call itself. Any one have any insight?

Sinclair spun it around and hit a quick shot out of the air that went in off the underside of the bar. Didn't have the pace of Deli Alli's recent wunderstrike, but a somewhat similar kind of shot. We'll have to agree to disagree. It was a floater. The keeper got about two inches on her jump and then fell backwards. There was no pace on the shot. toontownman
I will forgive her for being tired but what was up with McLeods kicking. It was abysmal in the last 20 minutes. Schmidt is so careless in possession she needed to be subbed. She does offer some decent steel that we don't have otherwise though. Future looks good. Kaylyn Kyle's omission still surprises me as it feels like we don't have that kind of player anywhere right now.

She's only 27 so I wonder what it is? Has she/did she try to come back too soon?

There are lots of things I like about Kyle, but I thought she became too meek in going forward. Turning back and sending the ball to the defence became too frequent. That was the style four years ago, but it's changed now to more emphasis on attacking. I think she will have to adjust to that to make a place for herself. She can probably do it, but will she? dyslexic nam
One thing really underscored by this tourney so far is that the future looks solid for this team. There is a great spread of talented youngsters all over the pitch. Not sure who the heir apparent is for keeper, but in defense, mid and forward our current crop of depth players should mature into a really competitive squad. Great to see. For sure, makes me wonder why the rest of the kicking was so shocking. Pressure and rash decision making? Also sad to see Kyle out but I think rkomar has a point.
