Ottawa Fury have a press conference tomorrow at 2pm.

Probably to announce the replacement for Marc Dos Santos.

gws

Duane Rollins is saying (not for certain) that it might be Alen Marcina.

Another coach who is rumoured to sign for an NASL club is Günter Kronsteiner.

Nick Dasovic is also being mentioned.

Tommy Heinemann will go to another NASL club. Miami FC one location being mentioned.

Looks like Watson was debating moving on due to FC Edmonton missing the playoffs again this year. It shows his quality that he decided he wanted tos tay one more year and try to get Edmonton back to the playoffs. But, when the heart and soul of your club debates leaving due to lack of success, that's pretty damning.

“Last year, I said in several interviews that I wanted to get into the playoffs,” said the Eddies captain. “And it didn’t happen for us this year. I was a bit disheartened, like I think everyone around the team was this year. Part of me felt that maybe it was time to move on, to take on a new challenge. I really thought hard about it.

“Because, in the three years, we really haven’t done anything. You can’t say that you’ve done anything until you get into the fight for the cup.”

It looks like Paul Dalglish will  replace Dos Santos  in Ottawa.

Seems to be him according to this article: http://www.ottawasun.com/2015/11/19/ottawa-fury-fc-to-name-new-coach-friday

Seems like a strange choice to me, not a very impressive coaching CV. A couple of MLS assistant coach gigs and a was head coach of Austin in USL last year who had a pretty poor season. Maybe he will turn out to be good but based just on his resume I would really prefer a Canadian to get the job.

Marc Dos Santos announced as head coach of Swope Park Rangers. That seems like a big step backwards to me. Yes, he will have more visibility into an MLS gig, but one would think the NASL coach of the year would already have that visibility, no?

I have a pretty good info that he signed this deal in early summer of 2015. He didn't know at the time how much more leverage he would have by the end of the season...

The other side of this is that he is also an assistant coach with the Sporting KC.

For other NASL news, OKC Energy were Sporting KC's old USL club. No longer, as Swope Park Rangers are their new, and are also located close by the first team. I assume that its very similar to Jeff Paulus' situation with FC Edmonton.

What could go wrong, a scottish coaching mentality coming in to take over an over achieving squad that bought into a system. It will be Highland League style play, and what is worse as GM his contacts will not be as wide reaching as Dos Santos. MDS could sell in French, Portugese, Spanish and English. Dalglish will be limited to English, its a big factor in finding players with right skill at right price (modest).

Paul Dalgleish has been involved in coaching in North America since 2008 and is actually from Liverpool rather than Glasgow in terms of where he grew up, but no reason to let facts get in the way of a good rant. Not sure it's the right appointment for them but I seriously doubt they would have hired him simply because of his surname.

You need to listen to him as he talks... miles away from what MDS approach was, http://www.ottawafuryfc.com/news/2015/11/20/icymi-paul-dalglish-on-tsn-1200 and his video as he talks next to John Pugh

Some things he is saying.. indicate he will change things up significantly .. " I am my own man" or words to that affect come to mind. If he gets off to a bad start in the spring season the fan base will be vocal...

I share some of the same concerns, but lets give him the benefit of the doubt, shall we? We knew MDS was irreplaceable. Let's give this man a chance!

If you look at Dos Santos, he had a similar CV before signing in Ottawa.  Before winning the Fall Championship, Dos Santos' track record wasn't that great either. Purely looking at stats really isn't the way to go. Talking with college's, (former) players and watching him during training and games is.

Btw he did really well in PDL (1 title and 2 conference finals) and with the USL team he had to start from scratch. Where did Fury end after their debut-season? I think it makes perfect sense. Dalgliesh has got the right age and has been working towards this for years. Give the guy chance.
