I predict a 3-1 loss like last time. Except this time Petrasso scores instead of Haber. Your thoughts?

I really don't think Mexico has a chance. Petrasso one goal and one assist. Clarke scores a crappy one. Farmer scores a header or a bicycle kick. Canada 3-2

But I don't think fitness will be an issue. These are young kids having not played since Tuesday. We'll have an extra days rest compared to Mexico having played on Wednesday.

No rotation but they barely turned up Tuesday so they should be recharged. If they have the same mindset, game plan and attitude as Tuesday anything under a 4-0 defeat would be a result for us.

Can we beat them, yes. Will need a monumental effort though and performance that surpasses anything We have seen from this group certainly in 2015.

Obviously we will need a ton of luck to prevail here. Mexico has to play poorly and we need to play way above our usual capabilities. We can't waste any good chances and need to hope that Mexico wastes their good chances.

Not to be negative but if this isn't going well I would hope Floro will use all of his subs promptly to rest key players for the important 3rd place match!

I just hope we play a lot better than our last game. I know we can I'm just left wondering about which team will take the field. Hopefully the good one and get us a positive result.

We will be in a similar situation in March at the senior level. Outmatched against Mexico talent wise. It will be interesting to see what Floro's tactical approach is here. 

I would personally like to see Carriero and Boakai start this one. You got to go for broke here, and while Boakai is invaluable off the bench, there might not be anything to play for if we can't get a goal early.

Good news: Honduras used mostly subs against Mexico and went down to 10 men in the 2nd minute and only lost 2-1.

Bad news: Mexico have some dangerous wide mids who will torch our FB's all day.

No offence, but that is the most Canadian soccer fan thing to say. Honduras were obviously resting their players so that they can beat the United States in the Semi-finals.

I liked Farmer at RB.

Carreiro does not play a very defensive game. I would be surprised if Floro put him in that central poition.

This will be a tough one for JGL and our RB (Farmer, Grant). Mexican wingers looks fast and creative.

Yes sorry, was thinking a match ahead, I wouldn't mind us getting another crack at the US if a rested Honduras is able to beat them  but then again maybe I'm being too Canadian and assuming we lose to Mexico!

Am I the only one who thinks babouli deserves the start at striker? Scored a goal set up eustaquio. To me he has been the better striker so far.

AJH had done nothing. Clarke has overall been very poor on the wing but I may even start him instead of AJH

Clarke has been poor? He set up Petrasso beautifully on his Panama goal. Hasn't turned over the ball much. Aside from the miss I don't think he's been poor? Great? No, but I think poor is a little harsh there. AJH has also added to the attack at times. His hold up play has been decent, he has caused a few problems. Not saying he's a lock but I can think of other players who need replacing. Manella for one....

I would have a bit more hope of us getting the result if we were stronger in the fullback positions, Eustaquio hasn't overly impressed me in the midfield and his horrible miss made for a tense finish vs Cuba, I would prefer Carreiro in that position!

This game may be the first true test of whether Floro's defence-first style of play will be a boon to us where it should be - where we are playing against an opponent which is heavily favoured (on paper at least - fortunately the game will be played on grass) and will likely take the lion's share of the possession.

I suspect we will see the same three defensive-midfielders start against Mexico (if you are going to go with d-mids, this would be the logical game to do it). I doubt we will see Boakai start (my guess is that Floro doesn't think he would track back on the wing enough in a game against Mexico, whereas Clarke will do that), but if we are behind by half-time I expect we may see him start the 2nd half.

It is a real shame that we can't call up the cavalry for this match. Is anyone aware of Mexico missing players due to asshole-club committments?
