One American
Canadian or not, today was not a good day for Hedges' USMNT hopes. Not surprising that Arena chose Brooks and Cameron. It's that he then chose Orozco, Omar Gonzalez and Zimmerman. So for the moment, he's behind five guys. Plus vets Besler and Birnbaum were not there. It doesn't necessarily mean this, but he could be eighth or ninth. It doesn't surprise me, necessarily, that he missed the roster, given his injury situation in January camp. It's that he missed it behind Orozco and Gonzalez.

The amount of indignation from US supporters every time he gets called is hilarious. I guess he's there version of Kyle Bekker (which in a way tells you how far we are from their level)

lazlo_80
I could be wrong but like a year ago or so wasn't there reason to shut the book pretty hard on this guy every playing for Canada? Maybe it's my imagination but I thought he was asked point blank about it or something. I'm too lazy to go back through this thread.

I see no shame with being behind Gonzalez. He has been very good for Pachuca since leaving Galaxy. When I saw him play the away match at Saprissa, I was very impressed. The USA is deep at centre back, but Hedges will keep getting chances. The Americans play a lot of matches in a calander year.

We don't even know for sure if he's eligible. I'm surprised this thread is still alive. Perhaps I need to stop posting here and giving it life :/

Gonzalez is good at emergency defending. The problem is that he's usually responsible for the emergency situation.
