Lol the thread name is appropriate IMO.  I'm expecting a let down here, we need to be professional or we will be disappointed just like last Olympic Qualifiers.  Or even in recent memory the U20 Championship, hopefully that is fresh in our players minds.

Rumor has it that only 12 players currently left for Cuba.

Where are these rumors coming from?

It really is Amateur hour every time Cuba is in a tournament. If we weren't playing Cuba last and half their team defected before the last game which meant something for our progression we would be pissed.

Don't know what can be done about it, but it really does lower the integrity of the tournaments they play in.

If this includes the 2 reserve goalkeepers does this mean the match is awarded to Canada 3-0 or does that mean that a reserve goalkeeper will play a non-goalkeeping role?

They would probably need to be down to 6 players for us to be awarded a 3-0 win.  Otherwise a player will need to get in between the sticks.

Under the LOTG, a team can play with as few as seven players, one of whom must be the goalkeeper (you simply cannot play without one player's being identified as the goalkeeper, i.e., the one who is permitted to handle the ball in his own penalty area).  However, I'd think Cuba would be likely to forfeit the match on the grounds of "unable to field a team" if they only had seven players left.

If Cuba really do have only twelve players left, three goalkeepers and nine outfield players, then either they would play with ten players or one of the substitute goalkeepers would have to play an outfield position.  I'd think the latter would be more probable.

yeah it really bothers me when players put escaping oppressive regimes before soccer. :)

I'm wondering if they can put one of their keepers as an outfield player. Can they? I know that the anti-Janine Beckie/Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault nver happens.

Of course they can, the "extra" keeper just needs to wear a regular jersey (only one keeper jersey can be worn, by the "real" keeper) and is considered an outfield player - he'll just suck compared to everyone else.
