NEW Mother of all Canucks Abroad (and domestic)

Just so there is no question, Ballou Tabla is back with Barça B after his loan spell at Albacete. They started training today, but I was not sure if he and the other loaned out players were in the mix. At least in the many pics I did  not see him.

As they have half a dozen with the Spain u-19 team, another 5-6 training with the first team until all starters get back (eg from Copa America), and it is a bit early to ask the u-19s to be brought in, I imagine he will indeed do these first initial weeks with them, regardless of any future loans.

Their season starts on 25 August.

Trying to make a list for myself of the players possibly playing in the European continental competitions (Europa League and Champions League) for my viewing pleasure and player knowledge.

Might be interesting to some and any additions/corrections would be very welcome.

- Champions League

Davies  - Bayern - group stage - a few minutes possibly

Borjan - Red Star - currently second qualifying round - starter

(Miller and Tabla - little chance of playing but aware of them)

- Europa League

Arfield - Rangers - currently second qualifying round - general starter

Hutchinson - Beşiktaş - group stage - mostly starter last year, looks like he is injured currently, enough for the club to make a statement.

Jonathon David - Gent - currently second qualifying round - recently been starting

Manjrekar James - Midtjylland - third qualifying round - ? - I see he was starting off and on at the tail end of last year but been an unused sub in 3 Superleague games this year.

Tosaint Ricketts - FK Suduva - currently second qualifying round (on their way to the 3rd) - has come on late in games so far.

Not bad.  Any edits?

Great information.

You should provide links or sources, that is the way those updating usually work.

Resenha is a little local club, probably amateur, in Rio. I even think it might be futsal.

trust me, it has any futsal pro club with this name in brazil.

Yago doesnt even lives in RJ, he lives in Sao Bernardo do Campo, a city from ABC region in greater Sao Paulo. I have mutual friends with him on facebook who confirmed it (pretty little world)

Steven Vitoria back in Portugal with Moreirense? Soccerway has him listed in their team. Or was this already known? Anyway they play a game in a couple of hours at Braga, so then we know for sure.

Think it was posted a few weeks ago, kinda hope he takes penalties here and has close to ten goals again

Pacheco to SC Ideal Tier 3 Portugal) to get more playing time

Pedro Pacheco did not play and hardly dressed for Santa Clara after the January transfer window. I think it must have been by mutual accord, as up to that point they were subbing him in and he was captain. They had a great season and while never near a European spot they were not at risk of relegation, so it was not a pressure situation that pushed him out.

He is on the Azores, in a beautiful location, my take is that he must be warming into doing his coaching certification or is playing to just stay in shape, as there would be virtually no pay for him there. I am certain he could land another year or two of contract with a 2nd tier team on the mainland if he really wanted to go.

He seems to be one of the few players over 30, so maybe they've found a sponsor putting up a small salary for a famous local player like him? In some ways, it's kind of impressive (or crazy) for a team that probably attracts a few hundred or fewer on their best days to be flying to the mainland to play regional third tier sorta-semi-pro soccer. It seems like there are only three teams from the Azores in the national leagues this year (SC, Ideal, Praiense). A few years back Ideal had some players from South Korea and Africa. Someone behind a club like this has to have some money to keep it going? I find this stuff fascinating.

I think you're right. SC Ideal are only like 20 minutes across the same island, I can't imagine the pay in tier 2 would have been worth uprooting where he's lived for all but one year of his entire career. He's playing in a league with a few former pro clubs - Beira Mar, Leiria, Caldas, Fatima - so for Pacheco, the move seems fairly ... IDEAL. ;)
