This is a rather big move up, yes?

It's the same level, the Regionalliga in tier IV and the same division as his former club as well; I wouldn't say it's an earth-shattering move given that he's 28 and almost certainly not seen as someone who could move up to the first team in the future given that Borussia are one of the better clubs in the Bundesliga. That said Borussia II finished 4th last year, whereas Wiedenbruck were mid-table so perhaps it could be a more likely route into the 3. Liga.

Yeah exactly.

I don't think there is any realistic chance of him joining the first team, but if he were to hit a rich vein of form (..and it would have to be mighty rich), he would technically have a more straightforward pathway to Tuchel's squad than 99.99% of footballers in Germany.

In a wild fantasy world, he tears it up and makes a brief appearance for the 1st team, putting him on the radar of lesser 1st division and 2nd division clubs. That would be a dream scenario for him.

Or they were meant to put some pressure on Lübeck. It worked cause they signed him til 2017. He wasn't able to play himself in the picture this preseason, and this is the solution they've come up with.

Why would he need to pressure Lubeck? He was never officially signed by the club because he was under 18, and they would not have received comp. if he signed elsewhere. He signed with Lubeck because he felt loyalty towards them for letting him train there for almost 2 years as an under-aged player.

Boris Gavric scored 24 goals in 28 games for Travnik (Bosnia & Hercegovina 2nd tier) last season and transferred to Banja Luka, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

Crappy. Best of luck with his recovery.
