Dub Narcotic
Good AFTN article on Dario's path, including that the Whitecaps waived a (what I assume was) a solidarity fee so Zanatta can sign but they are now making parents of prospects sign a MOU laying out compensation for future moves like this. http://aftn.ca/former-whitecaps-residency-striker-dario-zanatta-set-to-join-scottish-club-hearts/

BradMack
Yeah, he's one injury to an attacking player away from being a consistent substitute. Fussball_eh
Floortom
Has anyone here seen him play? it seems like he's flown under the radar as a Canadian prospect. Being on the Hearts bench at his age is a nice accomplishment.
JamboAl
Many of my fellow Jambos have not heard of him but I believe the manager, Robbie Neilson, thinks highly of him. I expect that he'll get his chance before the end of the year.

I expect that he'll get his chance before the end of the year. A very good move for him IMHO, Neilson is a well respected manager who has promoted youth, he's in good hands! Good on the Caps to develop him and waive a fee, this is another case where our Canadian kids have a better chance of getting 1st team football abroad than they do in the discriminatory MLS! zaltan
Caps might have waived a fee but I would not doubt that there might be a sell on fee if that is the case
Keegan
Where has it been said that Vancouver waived a fee? Zanatta wasn't under contract and is 18 years old so there wouldn't be one IIRC. Vancouver will be entitled to a sell on fee later on if he is sold but there wouldn't have been an initial fee.

jpg75
he could definitely have been signed at 16. Not to an MLS contract, if he had that would be common knowledge. He was likely under an amateur academy "contract"
zaltan
Caps had no interest in signing him at a younger age I heard, Caps had no younger players under any contract until this year once Dario had left the program and made all the players sign a MOU. lazlo_80
I know there was alot of hype when Aird was getting starts with Rangers, but they were still in div2 or 3. I know Zannatta isnt starting, but when was the last time a kid this young was playing with this high level of a team outside the MLS? This feels like it's a big deal.
