Gold Cup- Canada vs Jamaica- July 11- Houston, Texas

Recommended Posts

Frankly though, this is the type of weak mentality ******** that we need to remove from the program. This is what gets you an 8-1 defeat in the first place. If you don't show up ready to play, someone else plays. Personally, I can't imagine Teibert has this problem -although many a manager has had various issues with his game in the past.

This sucks. If we dont win tuesday we dont qualify for the copa. Although maybe a blessing in disguise so we can focus on wcq while others are pre occupied with the copa.

Some Fox commentators were suggesting that the U.S. might pull out of the Copa if they qualify for the Confederations Cup.  Not sure if Mexico would do the same.  Wonder what impact that would have on CONCACAF's participation?

“It is true that when you receive a goal in the last minute … it seems something sad,” Floro said after the game. “Soccer is soccer and we need analyze the full game. We have opportunity. We fight a lot and we tried to prevent all the action Jamaica has. … Always positive.”

Agree 100%, but it can be a catch 22 situation when you have the lack of depth as we do in Canada.  Start on only calling up the players who are loyal and have desire to play for Canada and will end up getting a lot of unnatched FC players which would end up being Canada's b or c squad and you will have an even harder time winning could end up driving more players away.  On the flip side continuing to call players who are "better" but aren't totally committed and will continue to get mediocre results and those "better players" will continue to be less committed.

I wonder at some point if Soccer Canada should set up a "B" team that is completely separate from the National Team that trains and plays regularly together.  With the lack of individual talent/star players that Canada seems to produce the chemistry from a team the plays and trains together may make up for it.

Just terrible. Trying to make sense of this mess...

Looking at things from the most positive perspective for WCQ:

- WJ and AH change our midfield DRAMATICALLY, and their return makes Floros low opinion of JO and RT less significant

- Tactics used thus far are extremely relevant to getting points on the road in Concacaf WCQ, so we've had good practice for that

- Akindele Piette Straith and Larin gained crucial experience

We've not been as good as we were in our games last fall. Several reasons for this, one being Floro has decidedly turned to giving young players experience and provided them with a chance to fail and learn. This is good.

Don't think we will see a change in tactics Tues.

Its just so Damn frustrating to see Osorio and Teibert on the bench. I've not felt so angry at a managers selections since Yallop refused to play Nsaliwa and Brennan.

After re-watching the Jamaica goal a few times I have no idea what Tiebert (no. 7) was doing there.  Looked way out of position.

Why would they do that. Though. The copa is going to be a huge cash cow. And one is in 2016, the other in 2017. Highly doubt that happens. And the states are hosting, cannot see mex or usa pulling out.

Would never make sense for either federations as they've both expressed the desire to compete with the big dogs. Doesn't make sense $$ either and both tournaments are held on 2 completely different years. In fact they should help the national team get in real form for WCQ. And if they're lucky and perform well in both of them they might get seeded with all those competitive match points plus WCQ. Then again Fox commentatots don't have a clue.
