Amazing win for England.  They pulled a Canada 2012 and lost a semi-final they could have won and came back to win the bronze against a stronger opponent.

 

I've read a few articles on how their success in Canada will change the landscape of women's football in the country.

 

Ironically their 2012 five-year plan was called "Game Changer for Women's Football."

 

Regardless what the Golden Ball nominations are, I can't think of anyone who has been as strong on the field in every aspect (defending, attacking, leadership) as Houghton.  She got robbed blind by the TSG.

It should speak volumes as to what the coaching staff thought of the depth, especially in the back line.
