Califax
Let's use this thread to highlight which chants worked and should be used again. Plus, the ladies have worked their asses off and deserve some creativity on player specific chants. Anything that you have been humming in the shower, now is the time to share. rob.notenboom
Tuscan and I have been having many discussions about this. I'm not going to one to disparage the chants that we already have. People complain that they're derivative or too basic. It doesn't matter. They are fun, catchy, and easy to pick up on. However I agree that this is a special moment in Canada's soccer history and it would be nice to have some special chants. Totally agree that we should honour our women. But on top of that, it would be nice to have some songs that are more uniquely Canadian, even if we just sing the original lyrics. Here are a couple ideas. If Adriana Leon scores (to the tune of There's No Limit) NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA A-DRI-AN-A (We did that chant for Emma Fletcher at the U20s with appropriate changes). More Authentically Canadian (To the tune of Excursion Around the Bay by Great Big Sea) Oh me oh my I heard the Chinese cry Oh me oh my I think I'm gonna die Oh me oh my I heard the Chinese say We never should have taken on the Maple Leaf today HEY! (Amend with appropriate opposition name. Kiwis, Dutchies, etc) The Log Drivers Waltz as is. Barrett's Privateers as is. If Sinclair scores she HAS to get a 'She scores when she wants' chant. I remember several years ago people in Toronto doing a 'do-do-do-do ... Simeon Jackson' chant that was simple and great (theme song to The New Music I think?). We could do that with almost anyone's name. We were doing it with Adekugbe in Calgary on Tuesday. I know we have more. Just can't think of them right now. squizz1402635577
"Holy Schmidt" chants are obligatory. "Kadeisha Buchanan" to the tune of Seven Nation Army (not original, but would be fun) The "do-do-do-do" one would work best for Jessie Fleming's name, methinks. It's a natural. We also did Tequila but substituted Kadiesha during the U20 QF.

Olympique_de_Marseille
^ CAUSE I COME FROM CHI-NA AND I CAN DRIVE A RICKSHAW? Too far? Yeah, too far. OH CHINA IS FULL OF SHIT OH CHINA IS FULL OF SHIT THEY'RE FULL OF SHIT! SHIT! AND BULLSHIT OH CHINA IS FULL OF SHIT! There will be more public scrutiny then usual because of how high profile this tournament is. Unlike Honduras or the USA, we don't have a historic rivalry with China. I'd avoid too many negative chants at the opening game. That game will set the tone. We want to get the rest of the crowd in Edmonton to join us. Putting kiwis in a blender for game #2 sounds fun though!

BuzzAndSting
I don't know if this needs to be mentioned but as Voyageurs and true fans of the game we should not be singing or chanting about anything sexual or referencing any player's looks. These are the best female soccer players in our country and they should be treated with every ounce of respect possible. Sexual and image references debases them to nothing more than objects. Sport Shaman
^^^ Absolutely true!!! I am also not that happy about the political statements being made about the opposing team as parts of chants but I guess there is a fine line. Perhaps we will need to review the "rules of engagement" tomorrow at the pre-game.
