DJT
Guidelines for this threadIn this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for May 22-28, 2015. If you find updates posted in some other thread then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster. If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here. Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread. Oranje
Hope to see him in camp this summer. I wouldn't be too devistating if he wasn't called. We already have a really fast guy who's first touch consistantly lets him down (Ricketts), so I am not sure why we'd need more than one.

Because we dont have an abundance of wide attacking players who will take opposing players on. Ricketts is a more out and out striker. Our forwards are our weak link. We have to call some up. jpg75
Agreed, we don't have too many attacking options on the wing who have committed to Canada.
Unnamed Trialist
Piette played 90 as his Depor B fell 2-1 at Durango in the first away match of their promotion to Spanish 2B. Team played with 10 men from m. 58 and keeper stopped a first half penalty. Reports say Sam was dropped to right back to cover the redcarded player. They will have to get through three rounds to promote, this is the first. Piette will play next weekend and then reports from Galicia say he's been called up for Canada. BTW, read that the bonus for Depor B going up to 2B was going to be 50,000 euros for the entire squad, but now that the first team was saved from relegation it has been raised to 100,00. gator
Hoilett and Petrasso were both unused subs for QPR in their season and Premier League ending thrashing at Leicester! Great to see Petrasso is back from injury, I hope I never see Hoilett on a soccer pitch again!
rob.notenboom
I hope I never see Hoilett on a soccer pitch again! Now he'll show up for the Nats.
Alex
Now that qpr is relegated how will hoiletts and petrassos contract be affected? I'm assuming for petrasso this could be a good thing as he will likely get championship minutes next year but does hoilett have an out clause? REB is better technically than Ricketts with a better touch, dribbling IMO but where Ricketts beats REB is his height/heading and defending ability.. two traits that are more valuable to our style of team. REB could never be used as a right midfielder, whereas Ricketts can. The only position REB would have a chance at being ahead of Ricketts on the depth chart would be RW so he has limited roles which is my only knock on REB. We'll call a maximum of 5 strikers IMO so: Larin, Haber, Ricketts, Jackson.. REB?

Well they just came up from the championship and hoilett went down with them when they were relegated there a couple years back.
Toje
Slovak 1st div Cebara came on in the 62nd minute for Zlate Moravce as they lost 1-0 away to Slovan Bratislava. Milovan Kapor played his usual 90 minutes as Banska Bystrica lost 3-1 away to Trnava. Banska Bystrica have been relegated.
WheatsheafSK
France - CFA 2 - Haidar Al Shaibani and Le Puy finished the season strong with a 2-1 victory over Louhans-Cuiseaux and earning automatic promotion to CFA (level 4). Al Shaibani was in goal for all games this past year.

We'll call a maximum of 5 strikers IMO so: Larin, Haber, Ricketts, Jackson.. REB? You just reinforced what I awkwardly said. Saying REB is better technically than Ricketts isn't saying much at all and the end remains the same, both of them consistantly losing posession. Just to harken back to my original comment, I wouldn't "hope" to see REB get the call, I would "hope" to have 10 strikers competitively vying for the 5 positions, not getting called to fill up roster spots. It was more or less a halfheated comment out of frustration with our lack of options.
moe
Di Chiara came in in the 5th minute to play the rest of the game for Okzhetpes vs Tobol on May 24. Okzhetpes won 1-0. Nearly the entire game was played with Okzhetpes one man short.
