Keegan
http://the11.ca/2015/04/14/akindele-99-9-per-cent-committed-to-canada-floro-unhappy-with-double-standard-applied-to-his-call-ups-and-klinsmanns-call-ups/ From this article. About damn time someone said something! Honestly how can Bradley be allowed to leave TFC for 2 matches in 2 weeks but Canada struggles to even get players at ANY time? No chance TFC would release a Canadian for 2 matches in 2 weeks. We've had soft push overs like Stephen Hart "This is how it is" BULLSHIT, our MNT is just as important as any. David C.
On official FIFA dates, the CSA should simply insist on calling whichever MLS player they chose and let the teams stew all they want. If MLS teams have an issue with it, they should take it up with their league, not with the CSA. If MLS want to be taken seriously on an international level, they have to start respecting the FIFA calendar.
Obinna
Edmonton in November or somewhere just as cold. If I am being selfish I say yes because I can drive there, but Winnipeg would probably provide a better venue and is just as cold.
shermanator
MLS doesn't give a crap about the performance of the men's national team so this doesn't surprise me.
Cheeta
Not to defend the clubs/franchises but it has to be said players of certain stature hold A LOT more say over whether they want to be released for international duty or not, the employers wishes be damned. Can't think of a Canadian in MLS right now who holds that sort of sway. Not since DeRo was at his best. And it is an American league (with some pretty squishy rules) so.... MLS franchises can be accomodating to a players international ambitions or not. It is what it is. For the players concerned and for the MNT. Floro clearly recongnizes that, acknowledges it, and is moving forward accordingly. Points to him. Bit hard on some players for the obvious reasons (you know, livelyhood that sort of thing) but life is tough. Wear a helmet.
Keegan
Even when DeRo was at his best he was still being pressured by his MLS clubs to stay. It's a Canada problem. Period. No one can argue that DeRo was/is the best TFC player of all time. He skipped Canada matches for TFC and did it go appreciated by the club? Bradley and Altidore make 15x what DeRo did at TFC and can go on every international call they choose. Altidore/Bradley will make more in a quarter season than what De Rosario made his WHOLE Toronto career and probably play more USMNT matches than TFC games in that time. That is a complete joke. You know what it is? The fact that those guys could be threatened with losing their spots. These clubs whisper in our players ears "don't go, you won't lose your spot they don't have anyone else". But what can they say to USMNT players? It's a double standard and it's BS. If anything we need our guys MORE than the USA needs Bradley/Altidore. tmcmurph
Great to see our MNT coach speaking out on it. Maybe that was his whole intent. Draw some attention to the issue and hope it helps out? He is a crafty one and probably knows how far he can push things. I'm glad we have him.
