SCF08
Feyenoord are interested in signing Atiba. Atiba wants to stay at Besiktas for another 3 years but Besiktas are unwilling to offer him more than 1 year. http://www.milliyet.com.tr/yeni-adresi-feyenoord-mu--besiktas-2043664-skorerhaber/ I've just learned the names of the 3 other Eredivisie clubs that are interested. FC Twente, SC Heerenveen and FC Utrecht. EDIT: And in between the rumours, Atiba received the wonderful gift of a new son today (Noah Hutchinson). Congrats! WheatsheafSK
Wow - Summer Transfer thread already. While I would love to see Atiba back in the Eredivisie, and at one of the top teams, I don't see it happening soon. I am not sure about the wage structure is at Feyenoord, but considering that both PSV and Ajax have a maximum wage level (e.g. PSV is around 900,000 Euros - which I believe is less then what Atiba makes in Turkey), I think it is more likely Atiba would go to MLS for a payday than Eredivisie for a paycut. Also, the other three teams are not big spenders, and in fact Twente is in serious financial difficulties.

That is very similar to the max wage level of Ajax (although Ajax wage budget in total is at least twice as high as Feyenoord). PSV max wage is 1,5 million Euro's. It's almost impossible for Eredivisie clubs to compete with the wage that Atiba currently has but he's more likely to get a longer term contract there than at Besiktas. It all depends on what he wants. Turkey isn't a very stable country (look at the Fenerbahce players bus shooting) and with a new born child, quality of life could be important now as well. Obinna
Going to any of those clubs feels like a step backwards. Unless he is going to Ajax, I prefer that he goes elsewhere if it's a long term deal he's after.
king1010
Wow, Besiktas won't even offer them a 2 year deal when he has been the rock in their midfield the past couple years. Feyenoord and Twente as back up options though, not bad. If only we had 5 other canMNT players in the same situation.
Ivanovski94
I wonder if going to russia would be a good idea. Potentially more money than Turkey if its the right team. Good competition. Just a thought.

Steedman
One of the 3 Canadian clubs should start courting Atiba. Bring on that Canadian content! So.... who's the second dude.... awkward picture.
Keegan
One of the 3 Canadian clubs should start courting Atiba. Bring on that Canadian content! So.... who's the second dude.... awkward picture. If Atiba could get the money he deserves relative to Jones, Bradley, Altidore and Dempsey I'm sure he would. But as it stands he can probably make more in Europe. Another example of the double standard that exists for CMNT vs. USMNT.
David C.
With the Gold Cup out of the way now - I thought it was worth giving this thread a bump, so that we have a place to discuss potential transfers and signings. I believe that Hainault, Jackson and Daniel Haber are all free agents and currently looking for clubs. Stillo is trialling at Nottingham Forest. Borjan is suddenly a back-up again, at his club. Doneil is back with West Ham but will he get loaned out again (which I think would do him good)? Is there anyone else that should be on our radar this Summer? Greatest Cockney Rip Off
I would expect David Edgar to go on loan as Birmingham don't seem want him.

I have a hard time believing this will happen. West Ham are very deep in central midfield and have a few young prospects they are looking to introduce to the first team squad as well. They are also in desperate need of a striker and have very little money to spend.

nolando
Apparently Besiktas is holding out for a 7 million euro bid... Would that be a Canadian transfer record? It is sad how infrequently we have had any any need to revisit this thread: http://www.thevoyageurs.org/index.php?/topic/20565-canadian-international-transfer-records/?hl=%2Bcanadian+%2Binternational+%2Btransfer It would be fitting if Hutch effectively finished his career at the top of this list. king1010
http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/west-ham-united/transfer-talk/news/west-ham-plotting-hutchinson-swoop_239447.html West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic is reportedly plotting a transfer raid on former club Besiktas for midfielder Atiba Hutchinson. The Canadian international was a regular fixture in the Black Eagles side under Bilic last season. According to Hurriyet, Bilic is looking to take Hutchinson to Upton Park, but Besiktas are holding out for €7m (£5m) while the Hammers are unwilling to bid higher than €5m. Furthermore, the Turkish giants are facing an injury crisis in midfield. Tolgay Arslan and Veli Kavlak are long-term absentees and Hutchinson's possible departure would mean that the Istanbul club will need to sign a replacement before the end of the transfer window.
