BCM
Congratulations to MS. Longshot to make the final squad, but it's his dream. Passionate player towards his homeland (and originally, mine). I said long ago he wouldn't play for us. Playing for Canada wouldn't be right. I want to say wish some young Canadians felt the same, but we benefit as much as we suffer. Olympique_de_Marseille
After starting the season with a minor injury, he lost his place for a couple games because his replacement Hayden White was in good form. Made his way back into the starting 11 for the past three games including the 5-1 win vs Millwall and the 3-1 loss to Swansea. More importantly, Smith has been called into the 23-man squad for Northern Ireland vs Czech Republic in Prague on Sept 4th. http://www.irishfa.com/news/2016/august/northern-ireland-v-czech-republic-squad-announcement

Olympique_de_Marseille
Smith has been called as part of Northern Ireland's squad vs San Marino (home) and Germany (away). http://www.irishfa.com/news/2016/september/squad-announcement-for-san-marino-and-germany Just watch him get capped vs San Marino "Alain Rochat style" because they want to rest other players for the game vs Germany... Then Craig Cathcart & Liam Boyce got injured, so the coach called Aaron Hughes and Paul Paton instead.http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37547312http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/stjohnstone/7244160/St-Johnstone-ace-Paul-Paton-handed-Northern-Ireland-recall.html So for their FIFA WCQ vs San Marino they had to cut that down to a 23-man squad as per FIFA rules:http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament/competition/02/59/22/68/regulationsfwc2018russia_short_e_v210415_neutral.pdf So who didn't dress vs San Marino today; the "24th man out" so to speak? It was Michael Smith it seems. His name doesn't appearhttp://www.fifa.com/worldcup/matches/round=276483/match=300331928/index.html Obviously still not cap-tied. Next possible moment is Tuesday vs Germany.
