Scott Arfield

Well, that all assumes that Burnley wants to re-sign him and not replace him. He hasn't been an uncontested starter all year and if he isn't going to be re-signed then Newcastle would be a pretty solid landing place.

Loved the call by Steven Caldwell on the Arfield goal. He really wants to be a more cynical commentary but couldn't be harsh on "one of his own". LOL I'm glad Caldwell could be happy for a fellow Scotsman that has found support in Canada.

Caldwell was a huge TFC homer early in his broadcast career but seems to have gotten that out his system for the most part and now does a pretty decent job. (Except, according to him, nearly every foul call is too harsh).

"I don't think that was a foul, (insert name here) went down a wee bit to easy.."

Then you see the replay and the player just took six studs to the thigh lol

I know it's early in his tenure, but Arfield is easily one of the 3 most impactful position players I have seen in my time of watching the CANMNT.

thank god for Strachan not calling him into Scotlands squad

I honestly can't understand how he did not at least get a few caps for Scotland ...

I suspect Scott Arfield probably would have started getting call-ups for Scotland once Scott Brown and Darren Fletcher, who are well into their 30s now, fade from the scene if he had been patient, but when you look at who else is available and has been getting capped central midfield is one thing Scotland has some depth at, so it's easy to see why he decided the CMNT was the better bet for him.

27 years old at the time, with several Premier League seasons under his belt is pretty patient! He's approaching 30, I'm not surprised with his decision.

Arfield got a yellow card last week: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41290320

& a yellow card this week: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41376505

I don't get Premier League rules; do you miss the next game if you get two yellows in two consecutive games?

The one this week was for simulation, did anyone see how he tried to CONCACAF?

You miss a game for accumulating 5 yellows. 2 games in a row matter is not cause for a suspension. The simulation call was harsh as he was clipped in the foot. Arguable not a foul I suppose, but definite contact.
