Didn't both the U18 and U16 teams finish among the top of the USSDA?
tmcmurph
I was doing a bit of a double take on that myself. They were 2cd for the 2013-2014 season at the U15/16 level (15/6/2) in the Northeast division. Pretty much the same as the Caps U15/16 kids (15/5/7). Better in PPG as a matter of fact. Very bizarre. The USSDA divides it up with U15/16 and U17/18 so maybe some of the players are not eligible?
Soccerpro
I hope this team puts together some good performances. Their friendly results over the last cycle have been extremely underwhelming...
Keegan
In typical Canadian fashion this team will probably qualify while our U20s will crash out.

Soccerpro
I have heard some say that this group is more talented than ever before. Be interesting to see. Hard to understand why we havent been able to win an exhibiton match if thats the case.
An Observer
I watched one half of a match with South Korea that we lost 2-0. Its on you tube if anyone is interested. I certainly thought we were the more talented side but they were better organised. They scored on a defensive lapse but didn't create much. So I can see how some may think this is a more talented side than previous ones. Also, I think they have had about 40 or 50 players participate which perhaps shows depth and may also be the reason we are not as well organised as some of the sides like South Korea who likley play more matches together more often. On the highlights for the rest of the tourney, we lost one match which was tied 1-1 when the keeper made a bonehead play by charging out to the top of the 18 box to get a through ball....which he accomplised with ease....then decided to stick is foot into the on coming attacker. It was a straight red and a penalty kick that won the game.

I know that, purely from a Whitecaps perspective, the U17 crew is not rated as highly as the U20 crew.
Soccerpro
Lost the first game against Guatamala, 2-0. Man, this age group just cant seem to pull out a W. We were spoiled with the last two cycles.

Lord Bob
Borges misses a penalty, then promptly buries two direct free kicks one of which was from, I think, Guatemala. Nice bounceback, kid.
Ivan
Guatamala must have a pretty decent side. Doing well in the U20s as well.

PKs are too easy, anyone can do those To be honest the keeper read it correct and made a great save. Now FKs farther out, that's where the fun is. I like that they went to opposite sides of the net. Very nice way to mix it up and not be predictable.
