They played in the old Western Alliance Challenge (Season), but it was only 7 games long.  They played 5 games at home and 2 on the road.  Their first game was on June 15, 1985 at home against Portland.  Victoria came away with a 3-2 victory.

Here is a fun quote about the Red Leaf Cup that was played in 1980....

"Professional soccer organizers are assuming the Red Leaf Cup will quickly join the Stanley and Grey Cup as a symbol of superiority in Canadian sports."

The quote is from an Ottawa Citizen article dated June 11th, 1980.

A slightly unusual Dominion Challenge Cup final in 1969 took place in Vancouver.

Vancouver Columbus had a 1-0 halftime lead over Montreal Ukraina, but scored 9 goals in the 2nd half to win the Canadian championship 10-0.  Sam Lenarduzzi scored two goals as did Sergio Zanatta and Dan Rosengren.

In the first game of the 1947 Canadian Championships St. Andrews (of Vancouver) defeated the Winnipeg Scottish 5-0 before a crowd of 8,000 people.  The gate receipts were $7,230 which at the time was the most ever paid to see a soccer game in Vancouver.

Saw this posted on Facebook by Vintage Toronto.

"The Toronto Falcons soccer club of 1921 were champions of the Fifth Division of the Toronto and District League. The cup in the photo is the Hiltz Cup, donated to the league by Controller W.W. Hiltz (he later became mayor of Toronto, in 1924). The Falcons were a new team in 1921 and the trophy was presented to them at the annual meeting of the Toronto and District on February 4, 1922. My grandfather, George Sinclair Aitken, is the player second from the right in the back row; his brother William Aitken is the tall fellow in a suit standing next to him. Third from the left in the back row is their brother-in-law Archie Lindsay ~ thanks Nancy Aitken Visima"
