Soccerpro
Congratulations to the Boys WOODBRIDGE SOCCER CLUB who were the top team in the First Year of the OPDL. 19 Wins 4 Ties 1 Loss Tell me exactly, what do the wins and losses for this youth team accomplish? Let us know when these players have been developed to the point where professional teams are signing them.

Let us know when these players have been developed to the point where professional teams are signing them. Probably not much. So tell me SOCCERPRO.....what do you want to tell these boys and girls who practised and played for 11 months in the extreme heat and extreme cold......that they acccomplished NOTHING, because no pro club is knocking at their door. I made a mistake congratulating just Woodbridge....I change that...CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL 18 CLUBS(324 Players for your commitment and desire to be better and learn) It sounds like what SOCCERPRO considers to be an accomplishment is not what the majority think. So your profile name is SOCCERPRO....i hope for your sake of using that name, you are not contradicting yourself, so you played pro????? In that case CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU. You seem awfully defensive. The caps lock on some of your comments makes me think that you're very "unique". You seem like the model supporter for youth soccer in Canada over the last 20 years. I'm pointing out to you that winning and losing, especially in a league where standings arent kept (at least at the u13 level, unless I'm wrong?) dont matter, at all. The key is development, especially in a "development league." We shouldn't really care about winning and losing at youth levels, we should be concerned about developing players to play at higher levels. Lots of youth teams in Ontario have gone undefeated before, it doesn't mean any of the players have gone on to help Canada qualifying for a world cup. mmd
I wanted to recognize what a team has done in this new Development league. From what I understand, there were standings kept. It may not have been sanctioned by the OSA, regardless, it is an accomplishment. I think all these kids have learned more about soccer in a year and what it would take to be a dedicated player then my kids ever had when they played. So sorry if I sounded upset, it sounded like you were not supporting what these children have gone thru over the year. The OPDL children definetly seemed to have a longer more gruelling season then L1O. And in doing so I hope the transition will be an easy one when the time comes when some go to the University teams and the Semi-pro teams. I wish there was something like this when my kids played. Not saying they were good enough to go pro, but there were a few that I thought could have.
sulfur
Officially, no standings were kept. Some parents kept standings and published a website with them, which contradicted the entire point of the exercise of... wait for it... no keeping standings at this level.
