king1010
anyone have any inside info on possible starting line up?
king1010
gerry dobson has tweeted that Lars has left camp for personal reasons. Borjan probably starts in net if there was any doubt about it before. Hope the personal reasons with Lars are nothing too serious
king1010
Floro on conference call right now: -says this roster doesn't necessarily hold all the starters for the WCQ but all players definately have a chance to make the team -Dero says he would like to see more Central American friendlies so Canada can get used to the environment -Floro says he is constantly monitoring the U20s and 3 to 4 have a chance to make the SR team soon -floro says important for U20s to play on the U20 team and qualify for the U20 world cup, prority is not to integrate them into MNT before U20 team (hearing this I highly doubt Larin was called into MNT camp but rather declined U20 camp for NCAA playoffs) -Floro says still tactically they aren't where they want to be but progress on set pieces is important -Dero says Floro spend the most time tactically preparing the squad than any other CanMNT manager he's had - Floro on Cavallni we've called him into 4 or 5 camps and he always finds a reason not to join - Floro says players that consistently turn down calls will have to wait until those accepting calls are unavailable *above info was grabbed from Rollins' Schuller and Dobson's twitter who were covering the conference call*
BuzzAndSting
Well that pretty much clears up the Cavallini issue, the guy doesn't want to play international football.
king1010
Well that pretty much clears up the Cavallini issue, the guy doesn't want to play international football. sure doesn't want to play friendlies. Wonder if his attitude will change when games matter and if Floro will be willing to let him back into the fold. Also he is still young. Young ppl make dumb decisions and over time I am sure he will mature and want to once again be part of the team. If he ever wants to play int'l football it'll be with us and nobody else
canadianfoot
Still Cavallini should show up at 1camp at least. The WCQ and Gold Cup come around he can't just expect to be called up. Maybe he doesn't wanna be called up. By the way how much playing time is he getting this year?
Barthez-Battalion
Was listening to a podcast talking about this game and at one point they brought up the 2010 WC cycle. Can someone tell me what exactly went wrong? Sounds like we had a good team and underperformed. Egos? Injuries? Did the coach not know what he was doing? Sorry for being random. Not sure where to ask this.
BrennanFan
What went wrong in 2010 WCQ? Dale Mitchell was the coach. His first mistake was not starting Hirschfeld or Sutton in our first game against Jamaica in Toronto. Old man Onstad cost us the win. Second, he did not start Ali Gerba that first game, instead starting Rob Friend. Only a damned fool would make that mistake after the 2007 Gold Cup. Third he did not play McKenna at the back, when he was in his prime. Aside from Mitchell's mistakes, Radzinski was pushed into an advertising board in game 2 in Montreal by a Honduran player. Should have been a straight red, instead we lost our most dangerous attacker for 3 games. Also, we played that second home game in Montreal instead of Toronto. Montreal was a decidedly pro Honduran crowd. It was a psychological blow to all of us. Also, rumours abound that some of the players including but not limited to DeGuz and DeRo went to a nightclub after the Jamaica loss and prior to the Montreal match a few days later. This caused many to question the team's professionalism, mentality, discipline and the leadership of Mitchell. Mitchell's lack of leadership would be confirmed by Brennan and DeRosario after we lost the third game, all but eliminating us from Qualifying, when they threw Mitchell under the bus in the media. I'd like to add that Mitchell didn't know his tactics and wasn't able to see the little details that needed to be corrected. Serioux was a kamikaze when he had the ball possession in central defense and tried to get forward by himself. He did lose some possession being out of his position and put the the team in hot water. Also, the defensive work from the central midfielders was poor. I've never liked Bernier for the national team. IMO, he never couldn't show the level he showed with the Impact. I remember him as the worst midfielder between the starters. We had a lot of talent back then. Had Floro managed that team, I think it's realistic to say we might qualified to the South Africa. Too bad we had perhaps the worst coach of Canada history (I actually think Miller did worst than Mitchell).

BrennanFan
DeGuzmans spanish is pretty good: "we respect their team, but we have to show we are a different team. we've worked hard to change over the past few years, and we're going to look for ways to be a stronger team in the years to come." tarnado1555362291
my predicted starting lineup -----------------------Ricketts---------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- DeRo-------Hutchinson----Osorio-----------Issey -------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------De Guzman-------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- Tissot-------------------------------------Ledgerwood ------------------Edgar----Henry------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------Borjan------------------------------ Not really sure who we will see at right back, maybe Ouimette is a possibility, or will Henry be there again?. Tiebert I don't think will start due to his best position is in the middle. I'd like to see DeRo starting the game, running at Panama to open up some of our other attackers in the process. However DeRo's fitness may be an issue. Issey for me has earned his spot lately.

davey_twelve
Yeah I'd prefer at least one younger guy in that midfield.
ken
What I'm wondering about is Floro and CONCAF referees, granted this isn't qualifying, but seeing these referees is very much diffent from being told about them. More central American visits so that our team and coach know all about it, no more 8 -0 games.
