Moldy9
From what I understood: "Since Donald has been in power it's better to prevent than to heal." Yeah. What a stupid thing for him to do. He's a soccer player, not a SJW. I thought he was smarter than that. His career is now in the toilet and doesn't surprise me the Impact dealt with him in this manner. They have a history of throwing people under the bus in order to accommodate their own agenda. Anyways disappointed in Lefevre. Clearly he didn't think it was wrong to make a joke involving a US PRESIDENT when his job is to travel to the US almost every week! Won't be surprised if he gets taken into secondary every time now. Nor did he think of the sensitivity to what recently happened in Quebec City because what he said can be interpreted differently.

Moldy9
Meh. Just trying his hand at comedy / Social Justice Warrior by posing with a gun and rifle I'm a hero shot. Maybe it was his first time on a gun range and got too excited. Instead he should've just asked Kendal Jenner for a Pepsi.

Great move from the Impact suspending him to send a message. Football is not the place for political statements, especially when they mention the US President and insinuate the use of firearms. That being said I don't have a problem with political messages from athletes. If it's important to them there's nothing wrong with speaking your mind. However this wasn't really political lol

Grizzly
There is an argument to say that political statements reflect on the organization but at the same time we claim to live in countries where free speech is protected.

He's paid to kick a ball not to play politics or be a comedian. But these people forget they're not just joe blow with a twitter account. They are pro athletes with many followers including the media and stupid comments or posts can have a negative impact on their career. Im sure Saputo and NDS are debating wether to push the red button on him for being an administrative burden.
Bison44
Moldy I come from a time when all the stupid, unethical, politically incorrect and borderline illegal things we did as young men was not captured for eternity on FB, Instagram and social media. WHEW!! I could always say, No officer that was not my lime green Volare hatchback they saw in that parking lot, I do not own a air pistol and my ass does not have a mole on it. If it was just the comment without the picture that's one thing but posing w guns and insinuating taking up arms is not the best thing to do, especially when mentioning a US President and especially in a liberal society like Qc where they are against guns. To add to your comment the Governor General David Johnston said on Sunday at Vimy France, (ironically Wandrille's country of birth) mentioning the twin spyers "Peace without Freedom is slavery." However with free speech comes the responsibility of being accountable for your comments.

Not only that, but I bet that there will be many more people now (including myself) who will have seen his political statement than would have been the case if they had just given him a private telling off and fined him. Which somewhat defeats the purpose. Although I guess I am too politically naive and ignorant, but I can't actually figure out what the "statement" actually is. That is, I know what it says, but I am not sure what it actually means in terms of whether this is a statement that is pro or anti Trump. I could interpret it either way at the moment. I know Bison I agree and understand. But today with FB and twitter and anything like YouTube or other social media it's not just words anymore it's there for everyone to see, and can never be deleted. If you're gonna say something now and days you better know the person you're talking to and hope they don't record it. Just think- we can go back and find anything that was posted by these figures and anything posted that's not PC has been reported on. For example when someone said here "add him to the list with Piette and Grande who shouldn't have twitter" I was able to quickly find out what those comments were. Lefevres post will never go away. I'm afraid he's done at IMFC. He wasn't getting many minutes plus he's been playing poorly and having injuries. Guess this is what happens when you have too much downtime. Grizzly
Lefevre is a decent backup defender for 63k a year. I am not sure he is ever going to be a starter but at the level MLS play is currently he is a pretty good backup for that price. If the Impact cuts him it will be another stupid move that hurts the club in a off-season/season where they have done quite a few stupid moves and will not be very popular with the fans. Moldy9
Agree Grizz. For that price and his play which he's shown he can be reliable when given regular playing time, is a bargain. However knowing how Saputo and NDS are often quick to pull the trigger (no pun intended) it wouldn't surprise me if they got rid of him using this as an excuse to save money or throw away another academy player they've spent time and money on. I think him going to another team even if it's NASL, USL or CPL will be better for him as long he gets the minutes and doesn't post crap anymore. shermanator
The Impact can just cut Lefevre for another young homegrown player that they won't play, perhaps Meilleur-Gigeure. Either that, or they can get a mediocre American backup CB that no one else wants. I imagine Christian Dean will be available.

Yeah it is not very clear, is it? The ambiguity is also part of the problem. Not easy to draw the message. The visual take away though is 1) shooting a gun and 2) the president of the USA. Just a risky, unnecessary move on his part.
