Wandrille Lefevre

I think Lefevre is 2nd only to Edgar at CB for us right now. He's very steady. He doesn't suffer Jakovic type blunders. I'd be very happy to see and Edgar start together.

I think that's overly ambitious. He isn't better then Henry, Jakovic and Hainault in my opinion.

meh. All valid points Bison. But what has he done lately for us. How has he played recently. I can't say how he's played in Germany's 3rd cause they don't broadcast their matches here. I have followed Lefevre recently and I must say guy has been playing like a rock star as of late, making goals and preventing them as well, one that strikes me is the goal he prevented by Robbie Keane in LA recently for a 0-0 draw.

Hainault has his accolades, but he just hasn't done much lately, his game is on the decline. Lefevre was brought on because he recently got his citizenship and his performances have been climbing.

In in the end who knows they both may not start. But I do rank him ahead of Hainault MPO

hainault is still only 29, your making it seem like he is 35 years old. He still has years to play. Also, only reason why we are talking about Hainault like this is because we haven't seen him play. If he would come back to MLS he would be starting for an MLS team playing more games then Lefevre and we would be go crazy about how well he's playing.

The thing is, he is not. Even on his way out of MLS there was talk he wasn't going to be retained for his salary.

I'd have Lefevre ahead of Hainault but behind Edgar and Jakovic.

^ That's where I have him on the depth chart as well, Hainault and Lefevre are competing for the 3rd CB spot (assuming Straith is only used as DM and Henry is injured). I give Lefevre the advantage based on his play, watching Hainault at Aalen he seemed pretty slow and was often used as a DM in the dying minutes of games when they were leading.

Lol I mean don't get me wrong the moment lefevre was declared Canadian and was on board I was happy and supportive! But I just find it funny how people were basically bashing him saying he was no real addition to the team and now all of a sudden people are pushing him to be right up there for a starting CB role.

he's played very well this year at CB for the impact. Not the case in previous seasons.

It's not only about the improvement of Lefevre, but what is the relative quality of Hainault compared to our other options at the international level. It's been a long time since Hainault has impressed me. I can understand you rating him higher based on experience, that is fair. I just don't rate Andre as highly as I used to. To be clear I think the two are pretty close, I just give the edge to Lefevre based on form.

While Hainault has been a stalwart his decline has been quite bad. He went from being an MLS regular with a competitive Dyanmo team to thinking he was to good for the SPL, to being in 3. Liga purgatory. Reminds me a lot of Simeon Jackson.

We are also potentially seeing the same with Edgar, although he is still a solid player for Canada.

Edgar was always reasonably limited. He got playing time at Newcastle due to injuries and held his own. Didn't ever look like someone that would be staying long though despite getting a bit of a fan following. He didn't and doesn't have the speed and quite the set of skills needed to make it in the premiership. Championship was and is about his level imo.

Lefevre is a late bloomer but seems to be on an upward trajectory and learning all the time. Time will tell if he hits a ceiling or not. CB's generally bloom late and get better past 26. In the case of Hainault I can't really comment not having followed him that long. He looks bang average from what I have seen for the MNT certainly has never stood out good or really bad.

Simeon is a little different in the fact he was very close to establishing himself as a useful squad player in the premiership and didn't look out of place. Mabye he overachieved or maybe it was more mental/psychological as he is blessed with pace and has the tools. I have never heard about him having an attitude problem.

I think they should have started Simeon Jackson instead of Ricketts against Ghana. It was the type of game that they gave a lot of people chances. Sometimes you give a guy a start and he runs with it. We know what Ricketts can do, he gets a lot of playing time, I didn't see the point of making him play so much and only giving Jackson 9mins. We didn't learn anything new on the Right Wing side besides the same old with Ricketts doing the same frustrating things.

So some bad news, Lefèvre is borderline out for September WCQs. Out for 4 to 6 weeks with a groin injury (6 weeks would be August 30th). Although he was called for October, November and Camp Poutine Jan/Feb, and hasn't featured since, he is still fairly high on our depth chart outside Floro's current 23-man squad.

Wishing him a swift recovery!

That's good news. Still think he has room to up his game. Would be awesome if he could get more playing time. Think he has great chemistry with Ciman. Ever since he came to Montreal he's helped Wandrille's game. What I like also about Lefevre is he's a smart kid. If you ever hear him in interviews he's very articulate and honest and insightful. Really hope things continue for him and gets another call up. Once Hassoun gets his citizenship I think it would be interesting to see the two plus Crépeau play in a friendly. Could be great synergy.
