farrelld
I'm pretty sure Lefevre started out as defensive midfielder but when he got promoted to the first team a few years ago it was as a CB. He is really calm on the ball and can make a nice long pass, probably thanks to his past in the midfield, but sometimes does get caught hanging on to it too much. He is also still relatively young for a defender at only 25?(Impact website says 25 wikipedia says 26?) I think he's learning a lot from Ciman this year and definitely improved playing next to Nesta and Ferrari in the past. Has any Canadian defender in the past played next to such big named players in recent history?
Obinna
Sounds like Jakovic. We can always use more composure in the back.

Floortom
He had a strong game, although a few of his tackles seemed a bit reckless and one may have led to a penalty under different circumstances

He's been an influence on his game surely. I've noticed he's more aggressive with his tackles and also he was having the same mannerisms as Ciman tonight on the field. Really good impression on his first match for Canada.

Moldy9
I find he is more composed now that Ciman is there. He doesn't make as many bonehead give aways as he used to and if it's too hot he just boots it rather than play with it. He can also score goals from corners just like DeVos and McKenna used to. BradMack
I was very impressed with lefevre tonight, thought he was more dominant than Hainault and made a lot of crucial plays. He might be a player that could play a pretty key role for us and he came out of nowhere for us.
Moldy9
As far as I'm concerned Hainault had his chance in 2012 and if I had to choose between the two it's Lefevre and Edgar at CB. Now time to get Camara at RB.

Now time to get Camara at RB. how can you give lefevre the go ahead over Hainault after only 1 game? Go back in this post and people were saying lefevre was no big addition and its complete changed....weird. I supported lefevre but if we are going to base it off one game that doesn't make sense. Hainault has always been very solid for us and served well in the last World Cup...does that not count for anything?

Agree with most of this but Hainault was absolutely destroyed in the 8-1 game (like most players on the pitch I guess). Experience plays a huge factor in these games and I don't think Lefevre has it after one friendly in a neutral site just yet, let's ease him in. Hainault by contrast has 200+ professional appearances and 43 caps over two cycles for us. Still, my CD partnership would be Jakovic - Edgar if both are healthy. I feel that Edgar - Hainault is a little too slow of a partnership.
Coramoor
After the Gold Cup I can't go with any other pairing except Jakovic and Edgar unless one of them is injured, they worked well together and made very few mistakes. Lefevre has definitely proved however that he deserves serious consideration for every call up
Moldy9
How can I give the go ahead? Simple. Right now Lefevre > Hainault. Lefevre has played in 13 games this season compared to Hainault's 10. Lefevre plays at a higher level right now: MLS > Bundesliga 3. Lefevre is all around better player (faster, ball possession, distribution, calm, vision) with better pedigree/ football education. Lefevre is playing some of the best football right now. Lastly Lefevre has yet to get destroyed by 8 goals so he won't be traumatized or having flashbacks when having to play in Honduras. Just cause a person is new and the other has more games under his belt shouldn't mean his spot is automatically secure. There will be always guys losing their spots especially now. I'd rather go with our best players rather than those who've had their chance and didn't shine and have to wait another 4 years.
Bison44
Lets not get too carried away here. Lefevre may be the future but lets not forget about guys like Hainault. It wasn't that long ago that there was alot of talk that he should be brought to the impact to take over the CB duties and carry the CDN flag for supporters (once Bernier retires). It was only a few years ago he was a stud/starter in MLS moving onto europe. He had over 100 MLS games and a bunch of important goals for houston. It hasn't gone well and he has struggled for playing time, but he didn't turn into chopped liver overnight. Lefevre may become the starter for Impact, but Hainault was the starter for several years on a very good houston club. And he has played RB here and there over the years. Give the youngsters their chances to gain experince, because we dont have enough depth anywhere on the pitch. Glad he is in the fold, hope he continues to grow, but dont count out the wiley vets that have been eeking out a living in germany (ie ledgerwood). farrelld
Lefevre does have some experience playing in central american being with the Impact during their last 2 champions league runs. He may not have actually played in the important games but he was with Montreal in Costa Rica and Mexico at the Azteca.

But what has he done lately for us. How has he played recently. I can't say how he's played in Germany's 3rd cause they don't broadcast their matches here. I have followed Lefevre recently and I must say guy has been playing like a rock star as of late, making goals and preventing them as well, one that strikes me is the goal he prevented by Robbie Keane in LA recently for a 0-0 draw. Hainault has his accolades, but he just hasn't done much lately, his game is on the decline. Lefevre was brought on because he recently got his citizenship and his performances have been climbing. In in the end who knows they both may not start. But I do rank him ahead of Hainault MPO
finchster
You cant throw Lefevre into the fire so soon. you just cant. Being thrown to the fire separates the men from the boys. We can't shelter players, if he is playing well enough to start let's see what he has.

IceCreamMan
Ugh don't remind us. There almost should be some sort of system for the 8-1 similar to what's in place for Whoregreaves.

Soccerpro
I think Lefevre is 2nd only to Edgar at CB for us right now. He's very steady. He doesn't suffer Jakovic type blunders. I'd be very happy to see and Edgar start together.

That's what I said but without the numbers. But still sitting on the bench at the Azteca is more than a lot of the young guys coming up have experience.
