Wandrille Lefevre

Right.  The particulars are important from a fan point of view, but in a broader sense, ignoring breaking it down and proving our knowledge, again, would this be comparable to our men's national hockey team?  I have to admit, I'm completely ignorant about the NHL, I basically stopped watching at the last lockout, so I was hoping someone with some hockey knowledge could come and compare what our men's team might look like lineage-wise from that point of view?

Just trying to get a broader sense rather than nailing it down player by player...not that it's about me, but if anyone else is interested in that, that could help me out?

Pretty tough but the ones I know of from the last Olympic team are

Roberto Luongo Irish/Italian

John Tavares Portuguese/Polish

Marc Edouard-Vlasic Croatian

P.K. Subban Montserrat/Jamaican

Those are the only ones off the top of my head but I'm sure others would have some other FIFA eligible country

I was thinking of my own FIFA eligibility.  I'm about as "Canadian" as it gets but I would be able to represent Canada, England, Scotland and Finland.  My wife would be able to represent Canada, Poland, England and Italy.  Both of my kids could represent Canada or England (but they would only think of representing Canada)

WW2 was such a huge disrupter to demographics and we've had huge immigration going for the past 50 years that I'm sure not many people don't have similar FIFA eligibility.

Don't be too sure haha, if your kids were superstars and have the chance to be a top players on the England team, competing for the World Cup and Euro Cup.... Are you really that 100% confident that they wouldn't be the least bit tempted (not to mention you would probably be as equally tempted to see your kids at that stage). Kind of beats playing Dominicana at a run down stadium don't you think..

Happy to have Lefevre on board. Need all the depth we can get. Never know who's going to be getting the most consistent PT at the best level in 2yrs time. Agree he's not a prospect, and he's less experienced than our top options, but he's certainly in the mix.

Some photos of the ceremony from the Impact Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153394279005979.1073741945.116861190978&type=3

I think it's great to see Toronto and now Montreal hosting citizenship ceremonies.  Chances are that many new Canadians will be football fans and to get your citizenship at a team's stadium would give you a life long connection to the club in some capacity.

Filling in the blanks a bit at least as to name origins, which is only 1/4 of the genealogy.

Roberts- England

Ledgerwood- England

Hainault - Belgium (incidentally Houseofnames.com list Andre as being the most famous Hainault member)

Straith- England

Tissot - France (but this was an early French immigration name though)

Ouimette- France (also an early French immigration name)

Teibert - old stock Canadian and US name

Bekker - Germany

Piette - Netherlands or France (also a very old name)

Pretty sure Bekker could play for the Netherlands or England, not Germany

I laughed when I saw England in the same sentence with "competing for the World and Euro Cup..."

Your not getting the point at all. I do not consider them favorites by any means, however, they have a large pool of quality players to chose from and are not taken lightly by any country. Try to follow the point of the comment ....

Another article on Lefevre. Interesting to note that his parents moved back to France but he decided to stay here.

http://www.impactmontreal.com/en/news/2015/07/canmnt-call-next-wandrille-lefevre

That article indicates that it was the first ever citizenship ceremony held in a Canadian stadium, but TFC/BMO Field held one in late June (ironically the same day that the Impact visited).

That's pretty cool of Lefevre to stay in Montreal even after his family had gone back to France, though. There's no doubting his affinity for his new country.

With this guy the canucks have a player for the next 8 years,  he is playing with Piatti a player who deserves a chance for the argentina team, was the best argentina player whe he left and was really missed by  the POPE's one of the old firm big teams in aRGENTINA,  SAN LORENZO OF ALMAGRO, "the crows" because they were supported by the catholic church and the priests  by the time they funded it

Never stated it on my 23 man wish list, but him (along with Trafford) would be nice to see.

Not to detract from Lefevre, but Trafford could be a real nice addition.

I have only seen him in highlights but he seems to have the attacking instincts we could use in the middle. He's also 6'3 and depending on how physcial he can be on the defensive end, he might prove to be a real upgrade over Straith.

Would very much like to see Trafford.

I do think that Lefèvre could play instead of Straith because his biggest strength is his passing and I do think that he could bring something there.  Remember that Lefèvre played during his youth as a midfielder and is only a defender because the Impact thought that it would be easier for him to play there in MLS.

100% agree Camara has slick ball skills and awareness that are rarely seen in Canadian born players, as well as an impressive physique that is an advantage against short CONCACAF opposition. As I have said in previous threads it's HowSoon Camara.
