nfitz
We will not have a section at the Pan Am games, code or anything. This could change, but doesn't seem likely. So who knows the stadium? Where to sit? We can't do much more than pick a spot. I don't think we can even pick a spot for this lottery. There's nothing in the ticket request dialogue I can see. All tickets are $20 for the double-headers, including the semis. All we can do I think is request 1 through 20 tickets. Who knows where we'd land. If tickets are left after the lottery (and I would assume there would be, at least for the group games), they go on general sale in late 2014. I'm not sure if it makes more sense to wait until then or not. Though presumably these would be seats towards the back. I have no idea how many tickets will sell at this time. Cblake
I am actually looking forward to the Paralympic Pan AM tournament. Was down for a few games of the America Cup tournament at U of T, it was amazing. It would be amazing to get a good supporters crowd out for that. -Hammer-
Well, being a Ti-Cat season ticket holder I'll try my best on this one. The CFL field is 110 yards before endzones are accounted for, and I would assume that the soccer configuration (assuming 115 yard length) puts the nets pretty much where the current endzones lie. My seats are in section 103, affectionately knows as Box J, named after the Box J boys, the Ti-Cats supporter group. In the CFL configuration, this is the location of the home team player's bench. Now typically in CFL configuration, the teams don't face each other, they stand side by side on the West side stands. So if the intention is to make noise to disrupt the opposing coaches and goalie, then section 107 is your best bet. If the intention is to sit near our team, then section 103-104 is the way to go. This would put you pretty much at the start of the box in both cases. I would likely recommend staying away from the endzone seating unless it's dirt cheap, or if you can find out what the soccer configuration may look like. CFL endzones are 20 yards deep and THF has around a 5 yard buffer from the endzone to the wall, so if the configuration ends up centering the pitch, you'll be back a decent distance. Now, if the configuration ends up pressing against one of the endzones (I would think the North Side is more likely as there is a raised patio there, vs the South Side which is more of a plaza where the team rolls out couches for the game), that's a different story. There might be consideration to putting temp seating on the field, I don't know, I'd assume no as I can't see Pan Am Soccer in Hamilton selling 20,000+ I'll let you know right now, THF has excellent sight lines, meaning the view of the field is seldom obstructed by odd angles (which if you've ever watched Football at the Rogers Centre, you know what I mean). The stands themselves, sit probably around 15-20 or so yards away from the 65 yard wide field, so if they do go with a 74 yard pitch, I'd expect it to be very comfy. I would just like to pose a question, if FIFA mandates where the bench must be, because if not, they might even consider using the endzones as the warmup area. Hope that helps. gator
I haven't been to the stadium yet but I have received good reviews from all of my friends who have been there for TiCat games, thanks for the 411 Hammer! I know it's just under a year away and things could change, I sure wish we could be blocked in to a section, there is a lot of interest around the Hammer of casual fans who want to sit/stand with the Voyageurs! baulderdash77
I live in Hamilton too but I haven't been to a game in the new stadium yet. I'm planning on getting multiple tickets to the Pan-Ams next summer. My vote would be to go closer to our bench and keep it positive. How does section 103 sound to everyone if we have a choice? Admin
Disregard below. It seems something might happen, and they are trying to eliminate GA -------------------------- It looks like all or part of the stadium will be GA. So we just need numbers and a place to get there early. Not sure what security will do with us, but... hey let's see what happens. Steps remaining. 1. Buy tickets 2. Pick section to mob 3. Show up at pre game parties. 4. Argue with people who brought babies.
nfitz
Any update on this? Advance ticket sales end at 9 pm tonight. I figure I'd at least grab a pair to the Men's semis doubleheader on Thursday July 23rd. I'd assume there'll be plenty of group round availability later on. There's an article on CBC's website this morning - http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/news/pan-am-games-earlybird-ticket-window-closes-monday-1.2788789 While they note that the soccer tickets have been the biggest seller, they say that only 100,000 tickets have been requested for the entire games - and there's 400,000 soccer tickets for sale alonel. -Hammer-
I think the best option is wait until we know what matches are the Canada matches and buy then. I don't mean to insult our national team, but if we are struggling to get 12,000 at BMO for a friendly, I don't see them packing 22,250 for every game at the Pan Ams, which is the capacity of THF without the patios, private suites or club suites. I'd also expect some late arrivals since they rather bizarrely booked the soccer games for 5:00pm, which is when most people get off work.
nfitz
I'd also expect some late arrivals since they rather bizarrely booked the soccer games for 5:00pm, which is when most people get off work. I can't see how you'd start a double-header much later than 5 pm. The sessions are scheduled from 5 pm to 10 pm each week night. I'd expect they'd follow the same pattern as in 2011, and the Canada group games will all fall in the 8 pm to 10 pm slot. The 2013 Gold Cup was similar, with the US team getting the second slot of the mid-week doubleheaders. So the majority will be late arrivals I'd think. I don't know why we'd think the Canada Men's games wouldn't be anything other than July 12, 16, and 20. With the semis on the 23rd, there's an advantage in being in the first group, that would surely go to the host. I threw caution to the wind, and ordered a pair for the Sunday July 12 games, and the semis on the 23rd.
-Hammer-
Thought I'd bump this. If anyone is interested in the Soccer configuration at Tim Horton's Field, here is your chance. Seems the OUA soccer finals are being used as a test event for Pan Ams in the facility. I'll try to get some pictures, but it looks like the config will be to keep the venue centered with the endzones just serving as empty space, or possibly team practice areas. http://www.oua.ca/sp.../20140626060usu HAMILTON, Ont. - Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to announce that they have partnered with Pan Am/Toronto 2015 and the City of Hamilton to host the 2014 OUA Men's and Women's Soccer Final Four at the new Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton held November 1 & 2, 2014.This marks the first time that both OUA Soccer Final Fours have been played at a pre-determined site and the first time both the men's and women's events will share the same venue on the same weekend."This is an exciting opportunity to not only showcase the OUA soccer championships as one unified event, but to demonstrate the capabilities of a brand new state of the art facility," said Bryan Crawford, Executive Director of the OUA. Greatest Cockney Rip Off
After attending the match in Bournemouth this past week, I have pretty much made up my mind I will fly over for this. Anyone know how tickets are selling? Is there any way to get tickets in a Canadian section?

gator
This is quite frustrating to not know who is playing when, I want to purchase tickets to all of Canada's matches but not every match held at the stadium!
-Hammer-
Well, for a mere $40 you aren't breaking the bank, and I suppose everyone getting on board for the final's isn't a bad idea (espcially the women's final who have a solid shot of making it without the US playing in the tourney). So, do we want to hedge our bets here guys or have an idea what game might be a game Canada is in?
king1010
Apparently there are less than 1000 tix avail for the mens final. They sold 19 000 tix. Semi finals have sold around 10 000 each. This according to the hamilton spectator.

That qualifying has yet to wrap up. Once the draws have taken place we will know when Canada plays. They've only sold a few thousand tix to each of the round robin games so there will still be at least 15 000 plus available per game when we know the actual dates that Canada plays. People who care about sports already hate the PanAms but this is shitty on their part. It would be a miracle if we weren't in Group A. That's virtually how it always goes down for the host nation. And the men's and women's semis are both being done in a single doubleheader each - so no danger buying the semifinal game for only $25 - it's quite the bargain. I've grabbed a pair for the men's A1 (or whatever they call it) game on Sunday the 12th and the men's Semis on Thursday the 23rd.. I'll probably grab a single to the second and third group games on Thursday 16 and Monday 20 when we are 100% sure of the groups (and if I'm wrong, I guess I'll get tickets for the 13, 17, and 21 instead ) - but they are weeknight games, so will not go as quick. With the Gold Cup game at BMO Field on Tuesday the 14th and TFC playing at BMO on Saturday the 18th, I'll be pretty much soccered out, so I'm passing on the more expensive finals on Sunday the 26 ($40 for a single match suddenly seems expensive after paying $25 for a double-header) which I'm guessing probably won't feature Canada. Maybe I'll grab a ticket to the bronze medal game at the last minute on the 25th if we make that. Or maybe I'll just stick around house and get reacquainted with my abandoned children ... Sadly I'm ignoring the women ... perhaps if the games weren't in Hamilton ... though maybe my daughter will want to go see one with me. And isn't the Voyageurs Cup supposed to start in late July? Perhaps TFC'll be playing the Impact on either Wednesday July 22 or 29 (or both). (Hmm, Wednesday August 5 is out for both teams, as they both play that day). You're not the only one whose gotten burned by this. I grabbed four tickets. Thankfully I'm only out $100. That's so stupid, that you wouldn't open with the home team. Guess in the end it worked as I'm going to be buying another ticket. Not to happy about it though. On the plus side, if we can't get a supporter section going, we at least now have dates to target.
