Fullback
I think defenders like Hainault and Jakovic should still be a part of the fold and Aird could also be ready if he wants to play for us.
trueviking
one guy currently playing in a top 10 league in the world.... .....and he played about 20 minutes last season. ...there's also the guy who will never commit to us i guess.

Unless he turns into next Besler/Gonzalez within next 2 yrs, he won't get a call from US. US has lots of talented kids up and coming at CB
shorty
I think defenders like Hainault and Jakovic should still be a part of the fold and Aird could also be ready if he wants to play for us. Aird is in Victoria with the Rangers to play Highlanders FC tomorrow. There is a meet and greet at the Sticky Wicket tonight. Anybody going to this who has a silver tongue that can chat him up about representing Canada? Luca Gasparatto is touring with Rangers as well I think. Blackdude
Has soccer Canada ever had discussions on Kofi Opare? I don't think we're on his radar. Someone from the CSA has said that he was ineligble to suit up for Canada. (I think it was Floro) I'm guessing that Opare doesn't have a Canadian passport. Unless CSA can do something via Immigration Canada, I don't see him getting a passport.

VWFC
What sticks out for me is RB, you'd have to call up Edward or Beckie. Can't just plug that round hole with a square peg forever. What's the point of having teams in Canada, playing Canadians if they're just going to be ignored. cue Lord Bob.
El Hombre
Unless we start to develop some solid RB's, prepare to see Hutchinson man that role in 2018. I don't understand why that has to be the case. Hutch will still be a very important player for us for the next cycle and we'll need him in the middle of the park. There are a lot of options for RB, you just have to be creative: You can convert a CB into a RB: Henry Hainault Edgar Jakovic Stanese Ouimette Thompson Farmer You can try a LB on the right side: De Jong Morgan Adekugbe Gasparotto You can put a midfielder back there: Teibert Piette Johnson Ledgerwood Haynes Hutch has to stay in the middle of the park. shermanator
I think the opening round of 2018 WCQ is a perfect place to slot Hanson Boakai into the big squad. He's our most creative prospect in the midfield right now. Let's get him to tear apart some minnows and build some confidence. He will be 18 and training in Germany then. Likewise with Elva, presuming he will have a passport by then. Also, for a 3rd GK, why don't we bring along someone actually getting minutes (albeit at a lower league)? Here's what I would put out as a lineup as of today: GK: Milan Borjan Roberto Stillo David Monsalve / John Smits D: Doneil Henry David Edgar Nik Ledgerwood Adam Straith Sam Adekugbe Marcel DeJong Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare M: Will Johnson Atiba Hutchison Jonathan Osorio Russell Tiebert Samuel Piette Hanson Boakai Michael Petrasso Pedro Pacheco F: Tosaint Ricketts Lucas Cavilini / Caniggia Elva Simeon Jackson Jordan Hamilton

Sébastien
If Canada makes it far enough in the Gold Cup, I believe Occean's suspension will be served, right? IIRC, he is suspended for another 5 games. He will probably be too old by the time 2018 rolls around to play full 90 minutes, but could he still help our lagging striking formation in WCQ? BrennanFan
God I hope we're not still relying on hacks like Ricketts, Jackson, Ledgerwood, and Mr. USA Will Johnson in 2018.

IIRC, he is suspended for another 5 games. 3 games. He got a 6 match ban. Honduras was the first. Mexico was the second and Panama was the third. As Martinique is not a FIFA member, that game wasn't an official match. (A bit like when Borjan wasn't captied when he played Guadeloupe in 2011) So, his suspension would be lifted after the Gold Cup group stage if Canada doesn't play a non FIFA member in that said group stage.
