Lord Bob
From the Edmonton game: Smits, Roberts (out 84'), and Jonke start. Boakai comes on at 80', Nonni on at 84'. Smits was my man of the match and Boakai made the touch that started the equalizing goal.
Blackdude
From Ottawa: Trafford and Beckie played the full match and Mason was named Ottawa's man of the match. Haworth started (out 76') Mayard got on at 65'.
Red and White
This is a great thread! Following Canadians on NASL teams is beginning to get interesting, because we're starting to have a lot of them playing at different parts of their careers. In Ottawa, I'm particularly excited about Chad Bush, Drew Beckie, Andres Fresenga, and Carl Haworth. It'll also be interesting to follow Kenny Caceros, Philippe Davies, and Mason Trafford, namely due to their playing history before joining the Fury. Those of us in Ottawa who went to the PDL games got the chance to see Bush, Beckie, and Haworth up close. All three are solid players who were dominating in that league. If they keep heading down that path in NASL and beyond, I think they are three examples of success stories in the development of Canadian players. Elsewhere in NASL, does anyone know what happened to Kevin Harmes? He was with San Antonio Scorpions last year, but seems to have disappeared since. I'm guessing that means he's without a club? Its good to see Adrian Cann is still playing. One advantage the NASL gives Canadians is the fact that they can play longer than before.
Red and White
Ottawa Fury FC Canadians (vs Minnesota United, April 19, 2014) - Pierre-Rudolph Mayard, Drew Beckie, Mason Trafford, and Philippe Davies were in the starting XI and went the full 90 minutes. Davies picked up a yellow in the 85' minute for either dissent or time-wasting (throwing a ball away for a Minn U free kick). - Andres Fresenga came in at the 78', Carl Haworth at the 80'. Haworth had at least one good goal-scoring opportunity which was blocked by a Minn U defender. - Marcel de Bellis was an unused sub. Its looking like Gorrick will be the club's starting goal-keeper. Mauro Eustaquio and Zakaria Messoudi were also unused subs. San Antonio Scorpions (vs Atlanta Silverbacks) - Adrian Cann started and went the full 90 minutes at centre-back. - Shaun Saiko was subbed in at the 45' and SCORED in the 46'

shamrock
And Pridham debuted in the NASL (or any professional league for that matter). He was a 77th-minute sub in Minnesota United's 1-0 defeat by the Cosmos at Hofstra. Still no sign of Gyorio though, not even on the bench. Anybody knows if he might be injured or something? jamonty
Elsewhere in NASL, does anyone know what happened to Kevin Harmes? He was with San Antonio Scorpions last year, but seems to have disappeared since. I'm guessing that means he's without a club? Harmse was team captain in San Antonio last season but finished the year in a less than ideal manner. The Scopions had quite a dust up with Minnesota in a 3-2 loss at home in late August. Harmse gave Pablo Campos a love tap to the groin... or was it an elbow... maybe a fist. In any case, he got suspended for the rest of the season (5 games). This wasn't his first disciplinary problems, but was the epitome of San Antonio's season. They started of with a lot of promise (high scoring strikers Denisson and Zahorski) but then crashed and burned (a 8-2 loss to Carolina comes to mind). The coach (Harkinson) got fired and it was a free fall in the autumn season. Harmse was not resigned in the off season when the Scorpions did a full scale overhaul of their lineup. baulderdash77
I don't know why John Smits doesn't get at least a look for the MNT. He's playing regularly for Edmonton which is more than we can say about a bunch of our goalkeepers playing domestically and abroad.

Red and White
Ottawa Fury releasing Andres Fresenga this morning. He's gone from 'potentially breaking through with the national team' to 'not good enough for NASL' in a fairly short time span. I wish him all the best. At 22 years old, I think he still has a chance to break through somewhere.
nolando
Gyorio must surely be in Fresenga's situation too at season's end. Another guy we got quite excited about at one point. I think NASL is the end of the road for most players who get released from the league.

He was in the Uruguayan league and couldn't even get a loan or a first team game which should have told us something. He had a great performance against Brek Shea in 2012 which had me hopeful. As for Gyorio I think he simply screwed himself. He had an offer from Sporting KC and turned it down then fell into limbo.

We still have a lot of growth to do for the game in North America, we are getting there, though.
baulderdash77
Adrian Cann was named the NASL player of the week for San Antonio. Cann scored the winner in stoppage time that won the fall season for San Antonio. It's a fairly historic goal for the team. http://www.nasl.com/article/uuid/1b2ke3booi0yq1f41f8m0iptlj/scorpions-adrian-cann-named-nasl-player-of-the-week#.VFhK6peEhjo
