Petrasso has scored for Coventry City to make it 3-1 Tranmere

It appears Petrasso is impressing on loan at CCFC. Fan forum today talks about him getting a well deserved goal and that he is a real talent. A few fans seemed to comment that he appeared to be the only player who looked interested today.

Here's an article about him following the last match.

Keven Alemán got subbed in min. 56 for Valladolid B as they beat La Granja 3-2. They are still leader of their 4th tier group and look set to play the promotion playoff into 2B, which would really help Keven's level. 3rd in Spain is not particularly challenging.

Just took a look at their roster: not one player born before 1991, most are 93s and 94s, a couple 95s. A very good sign as it means Valladolid is really using the team to develop future pros and can be patient with them. Keven is 20 in a month.

In Scotlands League One, Aird got another 90 minutes. I know some don't want him on the list, but he's still eligable and I honestly don't see any plus sides in choosing Scotland over Canada (equally slim chances of ever getting close to a World Cup). If I was Floro, I'd still be calling him.

In League Two, Birnstingl got another game between the posts of Queens Park, and yet another loss. Calum Ferguson played one half for Montrose, he got subbed off during the break.

I've learned my lesson regarding the Finnish League Cup, as I understand it's a sort of pre-season tournament and clubs can field trialists, but I've found some good news. Babayele Sodade played for Mypa '47, as they beat FC Lahti. Nice to finaly see him somewhere and I hope he catches on there.

Might be the perfect storm for Aleman, as the parent club looks like it could be relegated.

He's not starting for the second team and you think that he could play for the first team?

Anyways,

Turkey

1. Lig

Bucaspor 2-1 Gaziantep BB (FT)

Ricketts started, scored and got subbed off during the 88th minute.

Germany

2. Bundesliga

Köln 1-0 Greuther Fürth (HT)

McKenna is on the bench

You're right, he's ****. Even if Valladolid don't release him, the Vs should stop all updates immediately. Thanks for bringing my optimism to everyone's attention as completely misplaced. Much appreciated.

Sorry, when did I mention that he was a bad player? I did forget the words "next season" I only said that he has trouble starting for the second team, so I don't expect him to be on the first team next season if Valladollid gets relegated. If he was starting for the 2nd team, I wouldn't have written anything, because it would make somewhat sense.

Here's my point.

Will Aleman play first team for Valladollid if they play in Liga Adelante team next year? I don't think so.

Will Aleman play first team for a Liga Adelante team one day? I don't know. Time will tell.

I respect the player, but I do believe that a jump like that would be highly unlikely.

In what I hope will prove to be an indisputable exercise in arithmetic, let's try this:

The difference between the 1st and 4th tier, is much more than the difference between the 2nd and 3rd tier. (This would hold true in England, arithmetically speaking, although it may be more pronounced in Spain where the 3rd division has 80 clubs, versus like 360 in the 4th tier).

Let's also remember that Valladolid A may lose a few good players who don't want to go down to the Segunda and that a few of the better and/or older B team players will likely jump up to the A team, so the barriers in the way for Aleman will be reduced. Of course if he continues his bad habits of hogging-the-ball-and-not-looking-up picked up from playing youth soccer in Canada where that **** is encouraged, then he won't be going anywhere but the bench.

Good point, actually, that IS a positive.

Actually if Valladolid goes down (and I somehow think they won't, even though I quite dislike them as a fan) it won't be bad for Keven. They'll have to unload their higher paid players and if the B team is in 2B that would mean a fairly natural step up to first team for whoever deserves it. Maybe even faster to 1st team than if they stay in La Liga.

As the 5th or 6th mid and a sub on the B team he has little chance of taking a step up, unless he really improves. I have colleagues who have played at the level he is now, coaches of my kid, and it is not very competitive if you are talking about preparing solid national team material.

BTW, having seen Keven vs. Mauritania most recently, all of his worst habit were visible: impetus, overly wound up and lacking mental calmness, rash. Mind you, its a problem with permanent subs: if he could get a start that might level him off, getting 25 m a week is hard as you try to prove everything in a flash.

This is basically right, have to remind folks of it. I recall when a 3rd div Spain player from Barcelona club Europa played a year at UBC a few season back, when studying an MBA, he said the level was quite similar, CDN university just below Spanish 4th tier. I am not so sure it is really true, but there is no question that the pool is wide and the competition level is mediocre, especially in some groups (Aleman's group in Castille is quite weak in fact).

In Spain a 2B player can step up into 1st division if he's young and the mother club has a need. Some clubs prefer to have their B team in 3rd tier as its cheaper and young players are not poached as much. Bilbao brings kids from 2B up all the time, Sevilla will too, quite a few do it.

But rarely a 3rd div player can be seen making that move with the odd exception, like when Sergio Busquets was with Guardiola in the Barça B team when in 3rd in 2007-2008, they promoted to 2B, but next season he was brought up by Guardiola then hired as 1st team coach, ended up winning Champions. From 3rd division to winning Champions in a year. But very rare and only on a club with a strong academy they have faith in.
