sloth8
Carmen Marin, who was born in Costa Rica but now lives in Ottawa, has been invited by the Costa Rican FA to try out for their U-17 Women’s World Cup team. If she makes the team, Marin, who is only 12 years-old, would be the youngest player to ever compete in a FIFA competition. She could still play for Canada in the future though: “Ever since I was really little, I've always wanted to play on the Costa Rican national team or the Canadian national team. Being a 12-year-old girl and getting that opportunity, it's just amazing to me,” http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/ottawa-12-year-old-trying-out-for-under-17-fifa-world-cup-1.2491280
Lord Bob
Normally, in cases like this, people shout "well why didn't the CSA call her up to our U-17 national team?" I doubt anyone will in this case.
footballcoachnl
Not sure if a 12 year old is ready for international duty... while she seems to be skillful, there is a long way in her development (physically, mentally, tactically)... will be a great experience for her but I would not be very excited.. She supposed to be playing 8v8 last year!

She supposed to be playing 8v8 last year! Yes she is out of the Futuro program of Ottawa Royals...whether she makes it or not its a good showcase for her ... as she decides to go OPDL in Ottawa with a different club or to stay with Ottawa Royals and play in the local regional or district league. I suspect her parents will opt to keep her being trained by Sanjeev.. but the most important part is how she has said she practices in her basement all the time...so you can learn skills and be on folks radar at young ages if you have dedication. jpg75
The pertinent info. from this article: "The Ottawa pre-teen is a dual citizen. Her father is from Costa Rica and her mother is from Canada." So she can play for CR at the youth levels and still be eligible to play for Canada later (if she is good enough and decides to switch). Blackdude
I remember the CSA Called a 14-year old kid to a U-20 World Cup. I'm sure that they don't want to get burned another time by calling a player too young for that level
Blackdude
There is one guarantee about The Ref: when he can take a shot at the CSA, he'll do it. Sometimes, he may be right.
