DJT
Guidelines for this thread In this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for December 13-19, 2013. If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster. If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here. Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread. Wingback6
Jackson's Braunschweig being put to the sword by De Jongs Augsburg in the Darby of Canadian bench warmers. 3-0 for Augsburg after only half an hour. Neither player in their respective starting 11 not sure yet if they are on the bench. Though if it continues in this manner, both might get some good minutes in the second half. http://atdee.net/72457/watch-augsburg-vs-braunschweig
madmonte
Jackson is not on the bench in that one. De Jong, however, got on in the 66' and received a yellow card. Petrasso started for Oldham Athletic today and went the full 90, in a 1-0 loss to Brentford Hume did not start for Preston North End, but did sub on in the 72' in a 2-2 draw with Crawley Haber did not feature for Notts County, was not on the bench, as Notts won 4-0. Bully
Lots of opposing fans calling Petrasso out for being a diver and such. I don't mind, we could use some pansy behaviour against Panama, Honduras and Mexico.
shamrock
Germany - Fortuna Dusseldorf II down Verl 3-0 (Piette) He played again the full 90 minutes and picked-up yellow. But the kid is playing well and his team is doing excellent. They avoided relagation last season on the last day (he also played then), and now they are third in one of the strongest conferances. If he's still playing 4th division next season I'd be highly disappointed.

Granted it was at the start of the season, but still.

If he could be getting decent minutes in the 2.Bundesliga next season that would be fantastic!
shamrock
I think that's not too far-fetched at all. Wingback what's your point? In soccer players get cards. And especially when your young, let's say 18 years old, and play on the highly responsable defense mid position. The fact that his trainer puts him there every single game says a lot more. My point is that's a lot of red to see before the season is just begun. However, his disciplinary record is a bit better since. He is only 18, but that is no reason to make excuses for what he does or doesn't do. I do not like the kid, it's true. But time will tell. I just think it's important not to paint any player with a brush, one way or another. Many defensive mids go there entire career including youth, without a Red. Even Robbie Savage only saw it twice ever at the senior level. And... I just can't forgive him for that penalty he gave up, 18 or not. There are somethings you just know not to do, even at a younger age. And what he did was unforgivable, and spoke volumes about his character. But that may be unfair. shamrock
Pfff you actually want me to look up top-notch players who get lot's of red cards? Seriously? Cause there's lot's of them out there. Have you even seen Pepe play? Matterazzi for that matter? I know when Romanias Chivu first came to Ajax, he got consequetive red cards in the first two games he played for them. Somehow that didn't prevent him for playing over a hunderd games for Ajax and after that 200 in the Serie A. Only if you don't learn from them it CAN be a problem (but even then, you need some aggressive boys in any team).
Bully
Getting cards in this day and age does not say much. Most of these guys dive like ****ing idiots and it is destroying the game. We are Canadian, I don't mind a little grit. And, speaking of which, his instagram post was not funny. But come on, it was not that bad. At all. Everyone has to be so damn politically correct these days. Let it go.
tarnado1555362291
Cyprus Aris 0 - 1 Apollon Limassol Haber came off the bench in the 12th minute and was subbed off in the 84th. Apollon keep pace with AEL at the top of the table. Germany Munich 1860 0 - 2 St. Pauli Friend was not in the squad due to an injury suffered in training on Friday. maccaliam
Petrasso wins the free kick that led to the tying goal, and he just assisted on the go-ahead goal! 2-1 Oldham! Watching BT sport now and Paul Dickov and Craig Beattie are reviewing the game, both highlighting Petrasso's contributions and repeatedly referring to Petrasso as Oldham's "danger man" along with their other wide player. Petrasso looked very positive in the highlights I've seen.

Blackdude
I thought Paul Dickov was managing Doncaster? Yes, but he managed Oldham before and it's not like they had a game today. Tim Howard has done Premier League games for NBC.
Obinna
Watching the replay of the game now. Petrasso is just the type of positive winger the CMNT needs. The more experience he gets the better for us.

Greatest Cockney Rip Off
Just finished watching the Oldham match. Thought Petrasso was great. I was really impressed with his movement off of the ball. Did well to get into space where he could recieve the ball and run at players. Neil Warnock was doing commentary for BT and really gushing about Petrasso. Said he was superb and loved how positive he was with ball. Warnock also said, he reminded him of Andros Townsend. Does anyone know how long his loan is for?
youllneverwalkalone
I think just a month. You'd have to think he'd be going back there or somewhere in January based on his performance to date.

The teenage winger linked up with the Latics in November and has made five appearances during a short-term spell in League One. His initial agreement is due to come to an end after Saturday's clash with Colchester United. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12040/9078219/transfer-news-loan-star-mike-petrasso-hoping-to-stay-on-at-oldham
