Hey the forum is back on! Lot's of Canadians playing in MLS this weekend, but let's start with the "foreigners".

Germany:

Regionalliga:

Lucas Menz got his first start of the season between the posts of Wormatia Worms (gotta love that name!). Unfortunately he had to pick-up the ball from the net three times, as his side lost 0-3 at home.

Maycoll Canizares-Smith played 90 minutes in an away win at Goslarer SC. His side Oldenburg is now in the top three of the Regionalliga Nord.

Third Bundesliga:

Adam Straith finally played again for Wehen Wiesbaden. He came on the pitch in the 87th minute. Coincidence or not, he hasn't been playing for a while and Wehen has been lossing for a while...They drew 0-0 @ Heidenheim.

Second Bundesliga:

Rob Friend played for 25 minutes in an 1860 away lost at Karlsruher SC.

England:

Championship:

Hoilett played the full 90 in the mentioned game at Burnley (in which Edgar featured).

Sweden:

Superettan (2nd division):

Nick Ledgerwood played for 71 minutes in an 2-3 lost at Angelholm with Hammerby.

Allsvenskan (1st division)

Kenny Stamatopoulos is having a great season at AIK, they beat Brommapojkarna 0-6 and are second in the table, trailing Malmo with 2 points and one game to go (Malmo has 2 games to go). Kenny got his 24th start of the season, it looks as if he's in form and as such, deserves a call-up.

Norway:

Eliteserioen:

Hirschfeld got the start as hise side Valerengen lost against Haugesund. Valerengen has had a terrible season.

Good spotting. I had given up on his chances at Valerenga but here he is starting for the last two matches. Young Norwegian Kongshavn looks to have simply lost his spot back to the old starter.

And while we are talking about keepers who have won their spots back, Borjan has played the last two cup matches for Sivasspor, including today's 3-1 win over Ankaragucu:

Four Canadian starting keepers of note this week, then? An improvement, for sure.

That's the same game. And, it'S a cup match, so it's not surprising to see Borjan play. It's a cup game. They usually rest their top players and Borjan is caught in a no mans land, now because in Turkey, you can only have 6 non-Turkish players on the field. Borjan wasn't on the bench in the previous league games, because they feel that the other foreign are better than their domestic counterparts. It's less risky having the 3rd goalkeeper who is Turkish on the bench than Borjan. Because if they had the maximum of foreign players on the pitch and a injury to the goalkeeper happens, they couldn't put Borjan in net.

Unfortunately neither of Canada's top prospects in the striker position, have played this weekend.

Haber will make his minutes, they might have rested him for Cup and /or Europa League games. But Cavallini is in a hard place right now at Nacional. Should he be waiting on a chance at the possible Champs of Urugay? Or should he leave the club and get a starting spot at one of the other clubs in Montevideo? I'd say the last option, but it's hard for me to guess how close he is to being a starter. Maybe it's not so tough to just keep it up for one season, and if he fails then ask to be loaned out.

There were a couple of fixtures midweek, here are some featuring Canadian players.

In the English Championship, Hoilett played 75 minutes for Queens Park Rangers as they drew Wigan 0-0.

In Germanies Regionalliga West,

Wassey played the full 90 as his side Wiedenbrueck lost 0-4 to Leverkusen 2.

David Edgar played most of Burnleys's league cup match against West Ham on Tuesday. Burnley lost 2-0 and Edgar played as a central midfielder shielding the back 4. The first half was all Burnley with Edgar doing a good job of distributing the ball. The second half was more in favour of West Ham with them making their attacks down the flanks. Edgar was subbed late in the game when Burnley were down 1-0 from a penalty. Second West Ham goal also came from a penalty.

The season is over for Ethan Gage. His side Nykoping won it's last game in Swedish third division, he played the full 90. But it wasn't enough to secure a place in the promotion playoffs. I hope he get's to play in (at least) the Swedish second division next year.

In Singapore, Jordan Webb played twice this week. Friday he was on the pitch for 90 minutes as Home United beat Balastier Khalsa 0-1, and then again on wednesday when they beat Tanjong Pagar 0-1. Webb played 76 minutes in the midweek game.

Fraser Aird on the field now for Rangers in their Scottish Cup game at home to Airdrieonians. Commentators on the Rangers TV stream made mention of mom Sandra in Canada, think I even heard "all of Canada will be watching" or something like that (might have been in reference to the future though).
