Final Score:......Serbian White Eagles........2........

.....London City........1..............

Attendance was about 80 on this warm night. This was the first

home game for White Eagles in seven weeks which included four

games postponed because of the flood damage to the stadium at

the beginning of July. The groundskeeper said the field looked

like stilled waves when the artificial turf buckled.

White Eagles had more of the chances in the first half. After

the equalizing goal, both teams played end to end for the rest

of the game. A cornerkick would be stopped and then the

defending team would find themselves on a fast break.

Best non-scoring chances were at 17 minutes when SWE Daniel Chamale

crossed from 25 yards on right that had SWE Nikola Miodrag leap

and head the ball over the net from 8 yards. 55 minutes had

LC Marin Vucemilovic Grgic's 35 yard freekick from right that had

LC Zvonko Bakula as one of three LC players behind the defenders

head a 7 yarder well over the net. 59 minutes SWE Kiril Dimitrov

rushed on the right and his 15 yard shot hit the outside right

side of the post past the flying goalie. 71 minutes had

LC Aldin Kukic take a low 12 yard shot from the right that was

deflected wide right by the sliding goalie. 74 minutes had SWE

Andre Orlando get the ball off an LC clearance off the back of

SWE Sahjah Reid and Orlando's 18 yard shot from the left was

deflected wide right by the flying goalie. 77 minutes had

LC Vucemilovic Grgic intercept a bad clearance at 30 yards

and feed a centering pass to LC Kukic alone at 15 yards and

he hit the bar with a 12 yard shot. 78 minutes had SWE Ivan

Stankovic recover an errant clearance in the LC box and his low

10 yard shot had the goalie dive and push the ball wide left

of the post. 81 minutes had LC Vucemilovic Grgic cross from 15 yards

on the right over players in the box and LC Begovic on the left

sent a high pass that defects to the right where Vucemilovic Grgic

shoots a 10 yarder from the right just over the net. 84 minutes

had SWE Chamale feed a through pass from 45 yards for SWE Reid

who charged to 15 yards and took a shot that hit the underside

of the cross bar but the ball stayed out. 89 minutes had LC

Younan Samra cross from 20 yards on the left through the box

and LC Vucemilovic Grgic shot from 12 yards from the right

that the sliding goalie blocked at 5 yards.

Referee Ramee Arbaji gave out only a few cards for a game that

wasn't rough.

White Eagles record improves to 4 wins, 8 losses, 1 tie good

for 10th place but with a game or two in hand over the

teams immediately ahead of them. London's record falls

to 6 wins, 8 losses, 3 ties for a 5th place tie with

Windsor but they've played two more games than the Stars.

London City will be in Vaughan on Sunday for a game against

York Region Shooters which I hope to attend.

Result and details of the Sunday August 25, 2013 CSL game between

York Region Shooters and London City playd at St Joan of Arc

Catholic High School in Vaughan at 6:30pm.

27 min...City Younan Samra is injured near right end line inside

the box with what I thought was a hand in the face but some in the

crowd throught was a high kick in the face. Samra was down for

a few minutes and left the game. Referee Armando Pereira awarded

City a Penalty kick.

31 min...City Marin Vucemilovic Grgic blasts Penalty kick low and

well wide right of the net.

36 min...YRS Kadian Lecky GOAL...YRS Desmond Humphrey crosses from

22 yards in middle that deflects off a defender at 18 yards and

lands right in front of Lecky on the right who shoots a 12 yarder

into the left corner of the net beyond goalie Vladimir Markotic.

40 min...YRS Francisco Javier Perez GOAL...YRS Fitzroy Christey

rolls centering pass along 30 yard line from left and Perez

blasts a 30 yard shot down the middle into the top left corner.

49 min...YRS Tristan Jackman GOAL...YRS Dino Gardner pushes a pass

forward from 15 yards through defenders and Jackman rolls an 8 yarder

between falling defender and goalie.

Final Score:........York Region Shooters..........3.........

........London City........0...............

Attendance was about 100 on this warm evening. There was a light

rain for the first minute of both halfs even though the sun was

out both times.

Emanuelle Ameltonis earned the shutout for the Shooters having

to make a few key saves. His night was made easier by his defenders

especially after the third goal who were able to play 'keep-a-way'

for most of the second half. It got that City players started

playing the same way but mostly in their own half to at least keep

possession but they very rarely threatened the YRS goal which was

fine for YRS.

Perez's goal would be an MLS Goal of the Week candidate if scored

in that league. Third goal combined two grads of TFC Academy.

YRS is a deep team with midfield Jamaican International

(24 appearances from what I found) Richard Edwards not being subbed

in until the start of the second half.

YRS leads the league in only conceding 10 goals in now 15 games.

Defenders Marcelo Capazzolo, Gerard Ladiyou, Dino Gardener, and

Fitzroy Christey kept City away from goal.

Referee Armando Pereira gave out a few Yellow cards and ignored

hecklers from fans of both teams. The whole offciating crew

had to break up a first half fight in the first half that took

place well away from the action.

Very appropriate that Kadian Lecky scored at 36 minutes because

just one minute before Lecky 'scored' on a header from 10 yards

but it was flagged offside. I'm pretty sure it was Mrs Lecky

either on that chance or the one he had two minutes before then

who shouted from the stands "Don't worry, the chances will come".

Shooters record improves to 11 wins, 3 losses, 1 tie and stay

in 2nd place as we'd heard the announcement of out of town

scores that leader Kingston had won again this afternoon.

London finishes a miserable weekend with a second loss and

their record falls to 6 wins, 8 losses, 3 ties. City wore

their red kits for this game and I had as much trouble as

Friday's black kits in that the numbers didn't all match

the game roster although tonight I wasn't on the spot like

that game when I had to phone the results to the league

and the City goal scorer was wearing a different number

than the listing.
