Goal Scorers Everywhere 2013-2014

Recommended Posts

As if we have had good results developing players in the MLS, Championship, Scandinavia or B2/3.  Change, any change, is good.

I have no problem with having a player develop in a league that is high on offense, creativity and skill on low on fitness and defence.  Especially with regards to an up and coming forward.

Lets not forget Osorio spent 2 years in Uruguay and now he is the first pro level goal scoring central midfielder we have produced since Hutchinson broke through in '03.

Now about the offense and technical skills, there you got a point.

Wow, if you include his handling of the ball to give Orduspor a PK then he was involved in all 3 goals!

What better way to make up for a handball in the box than setting up the tying goal and then scoring the winner.

While the defending in the Turkish 2nd division is not the greatest it does seem that Ricketts has improved in a lot of areas. His shooting seems to be much better, he is controlling the ball well and he seems to have developed a lot more sense of how to move on the pitch with purpose in different directions instead of just running straight ahead into the box all the time. Also in addition to his 7 goals in 25 league games (plus 2 in  Cup games) he also has 5 assists and I can't recall him ever being very useful setting up other players before. Turkish forwards are usually pretty good technically and given that Ricketts had a lot of athleticism and little technique maybe Turkey might have been the right move for him. We still have to see him with the national team to be sure but I am seeing a lot of things from him in Turkey that I never saw him do before nor thought he would ever be capable of doing.

Players are added to the list once they score at least 2 goals on the season. Please post videos of goals and your comments. I will do my best to update the list on a weekly basis.
