The goal shouldn't even have counted. 2 meters offside by the player who gives the assist and if there's still anybody out there boasting about the Uruguyan Primera Division, take a look at that first goal for some lukewarm defending.

Off topic -

I have no history of following the Uruguyan Premera League, but was under the impression it was much stronger than it is.  From a football standpoint (observation based only off watching numrious highlight packages....) it seems the upper tier club are playing better football than the majority of MLS clubs (overall), players are technically superior....would most agree or abject?

From a financial POV, not sure how the mange...average attendance is around 4K.  Penarol and Nacional averaging ~20K while the majority under 4K, dropping as low as 500. Doesnt reflect much growth for the league in years to come

You are mistaken sir.

Fenix player was onside at the time the ball was kicked. The ball appears to have been headed on by a DEFENDER in which case the Fenix player was ONSIDE when he came into possession.

Had the ball been played on to him by a team mate, he would have been offside. See Hutchinsons' dissallowed goal from a few years back, when the INCORRECT call was made, and the goal was dissallowed.

This is assuming that the laws of the game haven't been changed regarding this situation in the intervening years.

Uruguay are currently ranked #5 in the world and pretty much every one of their players were developed in the Uruguayan league.

Granted, they came almost exclusively from Defensor, Nacional, Penarol, and Danubio, but still, the competition can't be that bad if they are producing such great players...

As if we have had good results developing players in the MLS, Championship, Scandinavia or B2/3.  Change, any change, is good.

I have no problem with having a player develop in a league that is high on offense, creativity and skill on low on fitness and defence.  Especially with regards to an up and coming forward.

Lets not forget Osorio spent 2 years in Uruguay and now he is the first pro level goal scoring central midfielder we have produced since Hutchinson broke through in '03.

And where do they play now and at what age did they left?
