rob.notenboom
Hi all, Today I sent DontPanic a PM to ask him about the hotel situation and offered to give him a hand. He has been nuts at work, and hasn't had much time to spend on this file so I thought it might be just as well if we collectively just decided to book all at the same hotel, or at neighbouring hotels on our own. We simply need to answer a couple questions, get the discussion going, pick a place, and have lots of us book at said chosen hotel. Although I realize doing this by committee might not lead to any kind of consensus, it is a risk that we might have to run ... especially as we might be able to score a deal if we book in advance. Seattle: Personally I am more interested in staying downtown despite the increase in price. We should be able to get close enough to the stadium to be able to walk everywhere, will save on parking fees, and there are lots of restaurants/pubs to hang out in. Denver: No idea ... never been. Someone is going to have to chime in with recommendations here. So in the rest of the thread please post the following: 1) If you are interested in booking at a common location. 2) If you have any hotel recommendations in either location. 3) If you have found any deals for the days of/locations of the games. I realize there is an accommodation thread started already, but I thought it would be better to start a dedicated thread for this as I think it requires some attention and people might miss it otherwise. No idea how to sticky this, but if someone who has that authority thinks it's needed, go for it. Here are a couple of places in Seattle after a quick hotels.com search: Dirt cheap ($97) and only 12 blocks from the stadium ... looks like a bit of a hole-in-the-wall though: http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.html?pa=1&pn=1&ps=1&tab=description&destinationId=1481165&searchDestination=Seattle&hotelId=116243&arrivalDate=07-11-2013&departureDate=07-12-2013&rooms[0].numberOfAdults=2&roomno=1&validate=false&previousDateful=false&reviewOrder=date_newest_first About 17 blocks from the stadium ... double the price but probably also twice as nice as the one above. http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.html?pa=4&pn=1&ps=4&tab=description&destinationId=1481165&searchDestination=Seattle&hotelId=112182&arrivalDate=07-11-2013&departureDate=07-12-2013&rooms[0].numberOfAdults=2&roomno=1&validate=false&previousDateful=false&reviewOrder=date_newest_first

Lord Bob
Do you care about price/downtown/suburbs? Obviously cheaper is better and I'm willing to travel a certain amount for that, but it's not an enormous factor.

matthew
I need a hotel in both as well. I have been to Denver a lot, but I've only ever stayed at the Hotel Monaco. It's really nice, but I just checked and it's insanely expensive. But the area it's in is good. Anything downtown, Five Points or LoDo should suit us fine. There are tons of bars along Blake St. and then Mile High is a reasonable hike across the interstate (sort of like crossing the Gardiner to get to BMO). Everything should be walkable. I would rather stay downtown in Seattle, but it's been about 10 years since I've been, so I'll let others make recommendations. cheers, matthew
rob.notenboom
Here is an inexpensive hotel that is right beside Mile High Stadium ... only $100. http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.html?pa=2&pn=1&ps=2&tab=description&destinationId=1440421&searchDestination=Denver&hotelId=107258&arrivalDate=07-14-2013&departureDate=07-15-2013&rooms[0].numberOfAdults=2&roomno=1&validate=false&previousDateful=false&reviewOrder=date_newest_first

That is a pretty rocking price for that hotel by the looks of it.
kcisoul
1) 1) If you are interested in booking at a common location. I for sure want to book with other Voyageurs! 2) If you have any hotel recommendations in either location. No idea for any recommendations, but I don't really need a fancy room I don't want to stay in my hotel room much I want to walk around downtown Seattle and check it out. 3) If you have found any deals for the days of/locations of the games. NO havent really looked I will be flying there with my twin bro. But would like to room with another person or 2 in order to keep the prices down. We will be in Seattle from July 11th to 13th I think then head to Denver on game day (14th)
tarnado1555362291
My gf an I are Looking to stay in Seattle the night of the game with the Vs,would like to be reasonably close to downtown, haven't looked up any hotels yet, price not a huge issue, I expect to pay over $
matthew
Matt, what days do you need a hotel? I haven't booked my Seattle to Denver flight yet, so I'm not positive, but the 11th for sure and I expect the 12th as well. re: the Hotel Monaco in Denver. That's a decent price. I've always paid less than that, but I don't think I've ever been there in the middle of the summer either. It's more than what we need to be honest. That hotel next Mile High sounds passable. It would certainly be great on the match day. cheers, matthew
Tuscan
Fak I posted my Denver hotel suggestion in the Travel and Accommodations thread, which I understand has gotten too huge for people to keep working with (he said facetiously). Anyway, check there, it's the Hampton Inn and Suites just up the freeway from Mile High. Hampton Inns have standardized quality so you know it won't be a ****ty bed bug ridden hole. I've stayed in enough dives and hostels to never want to deal with that again.
Tuscan
Do we have any idea how many of us COULD be needing a room or to share a room with someone? I'm going to spend some time tomorrow calling hotels to see what their available will be around that timeframe and to get price quotes. I'd like to offer a rough number (ex. two-dozen minimum) just so the person from the Philipines on the other end of the phone has something to work with. madmonte
Tuscan I like that hotel and it will likely be more affordable. I pick yours, I won't be sharing rooms I'll be driving straight up from Alberta, it's only a 15 hour drive for me to Denver. Any objections to the Hampton Inn and Suites? Tuscan
So I took a look at room availability online for the night of July 14th (so July 14 - 15) and either a room with a single king or two queens is $149USD for the night. Not bad at all really. I wish the cost of the flights were that cheap... This hotel is a quick freeway drive to the stadium and it is just west of downtown. Do we know how many are going to be interested in doing this? If we're all comfortable with this then we should make this official and start broadcasting it. **EDIT - I call the Hampton Inn. Currently they have room for Max 24 people, this includes some rooms for single occupancy and some rooms for up to three people. They generally assume one person per bed, so in some rooms that are double queen beds, it could be up to four people sharing that room if there's going to be some heavy spooning action goin' on. rob.notenboom
The Hampton Inn and Suites sounds fine to me and that is a reasonable price. We should check for other hotels in the area so that if others don't get into that one, they can get in somewhere close. It is not imperative that everyone is in one place but it would be nice to have as many people in a similar area as possible.
rob.notenboom
Is the right one called Hampton Inn & Suites Denver-Speer Boulevard? It is about 8 - 10 blocks almost straight north of mile high. If so, it looks perfectly fine and in a good location.
Tuscan
yup that's the one. Only problem is it only has room for about 24 people and we probably won't be able to block book. I suppose if people would be willing to stand up and be counted for the night of the 24th I would be able to call and give the guy there a solid number to work with. I think the easier solution is once we confirm the hotel, everyone be vigilant in getting your room booked asap. That way, it's your own damn fault if you miss out. I have a feeling based on this thread so far that getting more than 10 or 12 people together and booking a block isn't going to happen anyway. We may as well go ahead and book individually. That Hampton hotel looks perfectly acceptable and is pretty cheap considering its location (on hotels.com it is only $126 or so right now). I think we will just have to book and see how many will follow. Even if ppl book in a hotel in the same area we can still organize a party.
