Loan outs

Does anyone know legally how the Caps can loan out two amateur players (ie they have not signed professional contracts/are not on the roster)? In the major European leagues (and perhaps every league in Europe) only players on professional contracts can be loaned. Maybe it's a Euro rule as opposed to FIFA? Anyone know?

I think Whitecaps PDL side and Whitecaps MLS sides are technically two separate entities

Fisk and Adjetey don't have MLS contacts; they have PDL contracts with the Whitecaps and do get paid for that.

There are a few PDL PRO clubs. Whitecaps are one of them. Players on those teams are eligible for NCAA but those that are paid, such as Fisk, are not.

Fisk is likely getting paid a livable salary - and it is in the best interest of the Caps to get this kid as many minutes as possible because he has potential to be a leading MLS player.

Clarke needs to follow him out the door on loan.

Just saw that Fisk and Alderson played both 4 games only. Too bad.

That can be the case with late loans, though. Particularly Alderson. I think you'll see their game start % rise now that they have been there and are comfortable.

I hadn't noticed Clarke (perhaps there's been an injury there?), and Fisk was mostly bc of injury it seems, but I wonder why Alderson has had such little game time? Of those four matches played, I believe it was something like only 160 minutes played. These boys need more game time.

I think the numbers you have are from a different source than the link I checked.

From uslsoccer, Alderson has 184 minutes (46 minutes per game) and Fisk has 191. You didn't see Clarke in the Charleston roster because he wasn't loaned. He's with the Whitecaps.

Yes Alderson has played 46 mins per game over his four matches (not a big difference between my "something like 160 min") but there have been 11 total matches since his loan was announced, so my point is that 184 mins over the 11 eligible games isn't much. Re: Clarke, I assume that's why I hadn't noticed him :)
