Budd Park? Could they have picked a worse, more out of the way location? Last time I checked it was a grass field, while their regular pitch is turf with football and lacrosse lines, but you're playing your highest profile match in an area with no transit service. Going to kill some of the walk-up crowd. Price is reasonable for the kind of cash it would take to get a team of Sporting's caliber in.

Should be mentioned that Budd Park is not a real stadium, this will be for like 500 people max is my guess. So your sort of paying for that as well. It will be nearly a meet and greet.

lots of Portuguese in KW/Cambridge area

They just showed the field in a live hit at the start of the 6pm news. Looks like they have brought in the bleachers used for the Oktoberfest parade to provide the seating. Looks decent from the angle I saw. They are saying capacity at 4500 with at least 2000 tickets sold. KW United is expecting up to 1000 more as walk-up traffic, despite it being 30 degrees with a humidex of 41 here today.

Yeah, was decent. To be honest, United held their own for large parts of the game. Some real quality in the side. Game ended 2-1, was turned around after United had subbed off their entire starting 11, allowing every player some time on the ball. The game ended with a red card. Bennett Jull, a local lad who looked a little off pace with his time on the field, went in two footed. It was a mistake and he was genuinely apologetic.

All in all though, a great game to watch.

The team this year is littered with former TFC Academy players and Whitecaps academy. Many who played under new head coach Stuart Neely.

Neely has been fantastic for club putting on clinics for the local clubs on what it means to be a coach and helping out the teams. It's a real partnership between Kitchener Soccer Club and K-W United. Should be an exciting season though, a lot of talent on the team.

I only just looked at this year's K-W United roster. Interesting to see Cain and Polakiewicz turn up. They were both sort of outside guys in the Whitecaps Residency but could play a bit and were probably cut loose before their time. Will look on how they're doing for sure.

Sorry all for not getting back to this thread more often. We beat London, in London, even with their overagers, so I have basically been drunk since:

The team continues to have a very Canadian core and we just signed Stefan Vukovic. A lot of names on this list were Academy players who ended up moving on:

26 Paris Bateman Midfielder 6-0 20 Crewe, ENG.   Crewe Alexandra   5 Adam Bradshaw Defender 5-9 19 Waterloo, ON.   Bucknell University   22 Wesley Cain Midfielder 5-9 20 Guelph, ON.   Wright State University   9 Sergio Camargo Midfielder 5-6 19 Cucuta, CO.   Coastal Carolina University   10 Jay Chapman Midfielder 6-1 20 Campbellford, ON.   Michigan State University   6 Ricky Garbanzo Forward 5-6 21 Rock Hill, SC.   Coastal Carolina University   1 Nathan Ingham Goalkeeper 6-2 20 Keswick, ON.   Florida Gulf Coast University   18 Shane Keely Defender 6-2 23 Dublin, IRE.   University of Memphis   13 Darrin MacLeod Goalkeeper 6-3 20 Kitchener, ON.   Drake University   12 Jordan Murrell Defender 5-10 21 Markham, ON.   Syracuse University   21 Emeka Ononye Defender 6-3 21 Richmond Hill, ON.   Wright State University   15 Nikola Paunic Defender 6-3 20 Sokolac, RS.   Toronto FC Academy   11 Nicolas Perea Midfielder 5-11 21 Hollywood, FL.   Syracuse University   16 Stephen Piliotis Midfielder 5-8 17 Toronto, ON.   SC Toronto   3 Adam Polakiewicz Midfielder 6-0 19 Kitchener, ON.   Whitecaps Residency   19 Ridge Robinson Defender 5-11 20 Littleton, CO.   Coastal Carolina University   2 Deon Rose Defender 6-0 18 Brampton, ON.   University of South Carolina   4 Alain Sargeant Defender 6-2 18 Scarborough, ON.   Toronto FC Academy   23 Jack Sherratt Midfielder 6-2 20 Stoke-on-Trent, ENG.   Leyton Orient FC   7 Jordan Tyler Forward 6-1 21 Rochester, MI.   Coastal Carolina University   17 Stefan Vukovic Forward 5-11 21 Hamilton, ON.   Toronto FC Academy   8 Jack Warburton Midfielder 5-9 21 Enfield, ENG.   K-W United FC   20 Ryan Ware Midfielder 5-10 21 Hertford, ENG.   Notre Dame College   14 Jarek Whiteman Forward 6-0 23 Brampton, ON.   SC Toronto   25 Brendan Woodful Forward 6-2 19 Unionville, ON.

Polakiewicz was with us last season but hasn't been able to get healthy. Which is disappointing as he is a regional lad. It's great to have Wesley Cain on the team, as he is also from the region, but so far has been a substitute with either Camargo or Garbanzo getting the nod ahead of him. Today we play the Bucks, two days after the game against London. I imagine Stuart Neely will rotate the squad so hopefully Wesley can start.

Edit: WOW, way to lose the formatting. Ah well. Check out the roster here...http://kwunitedfc.com/team/roster.php?sport=MSOCC
