Karl Ouimette

NYRB has just acquired Aurelien Collin from Orlando City. I imagine Ouimette does to the bench with Zubar pairing Collin. I'm not surprised. I was happy to see Ouimette play regularly for NY, but he has been pretty poor. There were excuses with the issues the backline had but when Zubar came back he had to step up his game and he did not. That horrible tackle on Larin and the Own Goal only added to this. I don't think he's an MLS level CB. For Canada he's always been a FB and a serviceable one at that.

Well, you can't say Ouimette didn't get a chance to prove himself. He was poor, but I would still argue he's been the best of a incredibly poor NYRB backline. That should not be mistaken for an endorsement either.

Interestingly, it looks like Larin was actually offside on the play where Ouimette should have earned a red card.

Oh. Good, then. So, nothing to see here. I saw Paul Tenorio tweeting that Orlando freed up an international spot so I assumed that Collin was considered as an international.

It's a strange situation. Orlando moved him back to an international roster spot this year so that his wife could move to the US.

So that would mean he does take an international spot now and Ouimette's spot is at risk. I would assume they would still try to keep him since they are still very thin at CB especially if something happens to Collin, which has been known to happen.

Yes they may have to cut someone for Collins but I doubt it is going to be Ouimette given their CB situation.

Ouimette just loaned to Red Bulls 2 of the USL and was a victim of a savage kick to the back by Jamaican international Romeo Parkes of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds:

The paramedics taking an immobile Ouimette off the field:

Apology by Parkes on twitter:

This could be very serious indeed. All our thoughts should be with him.

Good for Ouimette!

Strange thing is, Parkes never says sorry to Ouimette on twitter only to: "my fans, the league and my teammates as well as the New York Red Bulls to accept my sincere apology."

he should face a F.I.F.A ban! No soccer or soccer related activities for a year or more at least! Make him find a real job like the rest of us because if I did that at my work place I would be fired. There are many youth that would love his roster spot!

I think it is likely he said something personally, in dressing room or other; if his club did not insist on it, then and there in the stadium, then they are incompetent as well. Usually you would also get your player to say something to the ref, only way you could possibly argue for a reduced sanction is to prove immediate repentance.

That's outrageous. We'll now see if the league's "get tough" campaign is real. In Europe nowadays, criminal charges would be filed.

No criminal charges would be laid for that kick and those physical consequences in Europe, where do you come up with such silliness?

I don't know if criminal charges would be laid in Europe or anywhere else in the world, but what I just saw is clearly deserving of criminal charges. It's an assault and it's not the kind of risk you accept when playing pro soccer.

That's because he's not sorry: "Despite the continous altercation throughout the game my further action..." implies that he thinks Karl is partly to blame because of what happened during the game.

That's a bullshit apology written by someone who was told to write something.

Absolutely, the fact that it was off the ball and during a stoppage only strengthens the case.  There have been successful claims for tackles in the run of play even (in the UK, so it isn't as silly as UT suggests).  Still, I can't see them going after the guy unless Karl is seriously hurt or the USL does something stupid like a 3 game suspension.
