Makes me feel totaly uneasy about the whole thing to be honest.

"Richards, speaking to Sky Sports News at the Securing Sport conference in Qatar, said: "I think they will play [the World Cup] at a time that is proper for football but they will have to speak to the leagues in Europe. They will have to agree proper times when we can start and finish. At the moment it has a tremendous amount of implications for Europe. For us, at this minute, the answer is 'no'."

Cash will talk in the end. Even if it results in the european League taking FIFA to the cleaners over it.

Should a suspension of the EPL happen UCl happen, as more that a current December /January break will be needed to prepare International sides.

Also consider that December January effect the princile rounds of the FA Cup.

If this, or any of the football league (where most English fans actually watch the game) is adversley effected then I think FIFA can kiss goodbye to any TV revenue from an English fanbase.

If they decide to have the WC in the winter, they should have to re-do the selection phase to determine the host country. The country nominations were put together based on the assumption that the World cup would be played in June 2022. If they are going to change what the countries were bidding for, naturally they have to re-do the bidding process.

There's a lawsuit in here somewhere. And I think Australia, USA, etc. have a good case.

Completely agree.

Sad to say that the Irish VP comes across as a bit of an Idiot toadie at times. " He was the one who stated thatthe games is best suited to been reviewed with "Human eyes". which is when I threw my design for all four sides of the goal mouth lined with cats eyes*, in the bin

I know some state that a mid winter break already exist in Europe, but its about 4 weeks (late December to Mid Jan) and many of the top Euro clubs head of to play revenue raiser games in the middle east anyway. A World Cup Torney is Six Weeks, with most teams taking nearly two months for pre time.

I understand that those counties with summer league always point out that their seasons are disrupted but in most cases those league are Pre-dated by the World Cup anyway. Remember It took place in Uruguay from 13 July to 30 July 1930 right in the middle of the South American Winter season.

Those Confederations have taken on the World Cup aspect as part of their modus operandi.

Problem is FIFA took money to play their Competition in a place that was by all measures used in their own technical report, simply impracticle.

Some how I don't see the EPL been able to adapt without trouble, but then again I don't see the Germans or the Spanish been able to do it either. In the case of england its not only the 20 clubs in the EPL who have to be placated. What happens to the other 72 football league clubs, all of who will be subject to a disruption of the Promotion and Relegation system. No Doubt this will also cause trouble in other european domestic Leagues.

You can point out that I'm laying a lot of emphasis on the Europen aspect of this but, and here the kicker, this is where the Movers and shakers are. I don't see that changing that much in the next 10 years.
