On a more positive note, according to Soccerway, it seems Piette is now playing with FD II instead of the U-19 team:

http://int.soccerway.com/players/samuel-piette/172832/

Looks like he was subbed into an FD II match on Friday and played 29 minutes in a 1-0 win over Koln II. This is 4th division football, which seems like a great move for an 18 year old (FWIW, FD are in fairly good shape to stay in the Bundesliga next year).

Regarding Occean:

Google translation of coach Veh's words:

"We have no one to clean the front makes these things," said Veh and is sarcastic regarding his attacker did: "Basically, we have played the entire season without a striker, even if one was on the court."

A verbal slap in the face that's for Olivier Occean, which is totally out of it.

Sounds like he is in the doghouse, so to speak.

A more accurate translation is: "We don't have anyone up front who puts the ball in the net. Basically we have played the entire season without a striker even though one was on the pitch."

Veh is a good coach overall and Eintracht promoted under him and are now 4th in the Bundesliga. However, he doesn't seem to be very good at handling strikers and I don't know if statements like this are very productive in getting results from players playing a position where confidence plays such a large role. I don't think Veh handled Friend very well either despite admitting that Friend had a very good attitude. Veh may leave Frankfurt after this year but if he doesn't unless things turn around for Occean in the meantime he might need to transfer out of Frankfurt at the first opportunity if he doesn't want to experience a year like Friend had last year.

I believe Edgar has a slight injury, but haven't found an online confirmation.

"Martin Paterson and Marvin Bartley both started in an adventurous starting line-up for Burnley, replacing David Edgar and Keith Treacy, who both failed to make the 18."

Sounds like it was the gaffer's decision:

Munich 1860 0-0 Hertha Berlin

Rob Friend played 90 minutes for Munich.

A bit strange that Rob Friend, of all Canadian players, is currently the one getting the most regular minutes at forward at the highest level. Haber might actually be next, unless you count De Ro as a forward.

Not sure how Uruguay ranks, but Cava has to be up there too.

When I watch the Uruguay highlights it looks to be a really low level, worse than even German 3rd division. Yet they seem to produce some pretty good players some of whom walk into some pretty good leagues/clubs directly from Uruguayan league. Obviously there is a big imbalance between the top teams and the rest of the league. And it can be very important for players to be getting first team football instead of sitting on the bench at better clubs and leagues so hopefully this will work out for Cavallini also. He is still only 20 but at some point in the not too far future he needs to return to Nacional or transfer to a better level of play.

I agree. I would like him to prove himself on this loan, go back to Nacional and prove himself there as well. He is young but there are MANY other players that age who are achieving a lot more.

2. Bundesliga

Dresden 0 - 2 Köln

Kevin McKenna played the full match. Cologne are still one point behind Kaiserslautern for the promotion play-off spot.

The had a rough start to the season but have been absolutely on fire since the winter break. McKenna's seems to have mirrored that of the team.
