Okay I forgot to put this up before the season started and in the second week both TFC and the Caps have won so come on Montreal! Beat the Timbers. I know playing in their park is hard but you did it to Seattle so here is our first chance of the year for a 9 point weekend.

Good Luck Impact.

It did happen... Montreal for the win.

Team looks well organized defensively. Perkins has been outstanding, and Nesta looks healthy and hungry. He bossed a compact back 4, that bent a little, but didn't break.

Credit also goes to Marco Schällibaum for his tactical choices, and the work he's done to unite this team.

Is this the first time this has happened?

Yes I do believe so. We came close last year with both Montreal and Toronto winning but the Caps blew a 2 goal lead against LA and settled for a draw. Our first 9 Point MLS weekend.

PS. Is it just me or does the new MLS site just suck compared to the old one? I find it vastly inferior.

Not only a 9 point week, but the combined total of 15 points over two weeks is the maximum these 3 teams could have earned given that Toronto and Vancouver were playing each other last week.

You could easily say that Vancouver has beaten two of the east's weakest teams, or that Toronto is only 1-1, or that Portland appears to be one of the league's worst teams defensively, but why rain on the parade?

Im pretty sure Columbus will make the playoffs and Im also sure most here will agree that The Crew is not one of the east's weakest teams by far.

Columbus had several chances and their poor finishing and some good saves by Cannon got us the win. Every time Higuain got the ball my gut sank. He is scary. Watch out when you play them. I think Columbus will make the playoffs. Not weak by any stretch of the imagination.

Portland? Even a weak team in Portland is hard to play against due to the pitch, fans and in Montreal's case, travel time. That is 2 weeks in a row they have gone coast to coast and got road wins in very difficult places to win. Kudos.

TFC? They just took full points off a Kansas City team that could win the east. Not a small accomplishment.

Did Montreal actually go coast-to-coast twice or just stay in the Northwest for the week? A Patrice Bernier tweet from earlier today suggested the latter.

This sums it up, you cannot take anything away from our boys in all 3 of these games. Great showing for the clubs, hopefully this is the first of many great weekends in 2013.

I couldnt fingure out why people were predicting Montreal to miss the playoffs at the start of the seaosn.

I think it was because we did not make a lot of moves over the off-season and the analysts did not consider that our end of season team was one of the best teams in the league last year and much better than the team we started with.

Grizzly is right - but the season is early. I'm still not convinced about dropping Marsch, but hell- maybe this euro-trash coach knows something. My guess is that he'll crash to reality of the MLS once a few injuries set in in Montreal and he realizes that he's got a bunch of Americans to choose from. In the meantime, this is a largely unchanged side with two of the best midfielders in the league in Filipe and Bernier. Bernier blew me away again with a stunning pass to set off a run for the second goal. And, for the time being, we've got a great d-corps!

hard to claim 'one of the best teams in the league last year' with a 6 game winless streak to end the season

while Mtl has been impressive so far, we'll see when mid season comes around and fatigue starts to set in. though I admit playing Bernier as playmaking DM a la Pirlo is paying off dividends so far, and Felipe in a box to box role is only going to make him even more dangerous

It's early for everyone. Any Seasoned Footy supporter will tell you never to get too up, when the going is good, and too down when it's not. In the mean time, as an IMFC supporter, I'll enjoy the two wins, on the road, at two of the toughest places to play in the league. As a supporter, I'm fueled by wins, which in turn breed hope for better days.
