Jaime Peters on trial with Toronto FC

Recommended Posts

Sound interesting. It would be good to have Peters as cover for Eckersly, not sure what we would do if he got injured. If he can get fit, it sounds like he would be a decent signing.

and you're saying Peters would be a decent signing based upon what? like 5 games he got in last 3 yrs? (yes, I know I'm exaggerating)

According to people who saw him in Vancouver, Peters wasn't so much chubby towards the end of his time here, it's just that he's got a thick build.

Thick like a blocking fullback from the pointy ball type of football. I never realized he was that stocky until I saw some of the preseason videos and games.

I saw a little belly on him when I watched pre season video highlights of the caps.

If he has any ambition he would of taken the cut from Vancouver as a wake up call. If he has and if he has committed to getting in shape I see no reason why he wouldn't make the TFC squad and give them some much needed depth.

Yeah, i hope he can catch on with TFC. Hows the depth on the right side for TFC anyways. Is there a chance he could find quality playing time? Would he be a RB or RM/W?

I think his best position is a right sided winger. He has (I am assume he hasn't lost any) ALOT of pace. I think he can be a serviceable back up for Ecks and he could also push Lamb for his spot.

* Yawn *

This kid has squandered such a massive amount of talent it's sickening. He scored a goal a game in the German Junior Bundesliga (U19) as a 16 year old CAM for Kaiserslautern and probably hasn't improved his skills a single bit in the past decade since then. Now that his physical tools are giving out on him he's just a burnt out husk.

Still - would love him to find a home here and get his motivation back!

I wish him all the success - it's certainly not easy! Good luck to him. Maybe, like Dunfield, coming home is what the doctor ordered!

He's only 25... his physical situation can't be that bad

If that's what mostly separated him from the rest of the herd than he's nothing special anymore. At 5'7" you better watch your weight or do a lot of squats if you want to maintain your speed.

It is a shame he was unfit and to be honest it was a bit shocking. His athleticism was the only thing going for him to a point..

He wasn't exactly shining in League One or Championship and getting tonnes of minutes there even when he was more fit. He probably just flat out wasn't good enough to make the squad, in an ever improving MLS.

+1

MLS is rapidly getting better. My eyes have recently opened up to this when I noticed Kei Kamara (a good - but not an elite MLS stiker) has been starting at Norwich City while one of our better strikers is not even making the bench.
