Quite a coup. Decent talent. Decent age.
Grizzly
How many platers can say they played in all four to European leagues, I wonder. Plus Russia, he just needs to play in France to round out the European top 6. Has been pretty successful everywhere except in Russia but has been having a very good year in Spain and is only 28. A really strong signing if it goes through.
McGuire
Always been a fan of his, I think he'll excel in MLS

Obinna
Since I also support the Super Eagles, I have perhaps watched Martins play a lot more than others. To those who do not know, he did not make Nigeria's final roster for the African Cup of Nations. He is competing with Ahmed Musa (20 year old CSKA Moscow player who is 5th or 6th in RPL scoring this season), and also Victor Moses (who I am sure needs no introduction). Those are the players who have similar attributes (pacy, runs at defenders, very direct). Despite not making the final squad for ACON, he is Levante's leading scoring this season in La Liga (I think he has 7 goals), so it is not like he is in a slump. What I wonder is why Martins would want to come to MLS? If he is trying to get back on the national team he is not going to help his chances unless he has an absolute beast of a half-season (he won't be available until summer correct)? Actually, since Nigeria are playing in the confederations cup a move to MLS does not really make sense, unless he is putting the national team dream on the back burner for now. Keano
Seems to be a done deal per Martins himself on the twatterverse machine.
Obinna
yeah they are talking as if it is only a matter of time. Martins has been recalled to the Super Eagles squad for the next WCQ's which may prolong his arrival to Seattle. Then again it is good for Sounders they are getting a striker that is still getting called up to a strong national team side. As you all know MLS has a reputation of bringing in players on their decline, so it would be nice if Martins can help buck that trend by finding his way back into the national team.
